As the collectors' newest recruit, idealistic Ai Tanabe quickly loses her enthusiasm for outer space when she joins the Half-Section unit and meets her cynical new partner, Hachimaki. But Tanabe soon discovers that hauling in space debris is not only dull and monotonous--it carries with it a unique set of difficulties and dangers. PLANETES avoids the wild, fantastical tropes of much sc-fi anime in favor of realistic hard science that emphasizes character development and gorgeously rendered animation.
