This detachable face CD receiver balances affordability with flexibility, and succeeds on both counts. If keeping the setup simple is a priority, then you'll appreciate the built-in high-power MOSFET45 4-channel amp. Contour your soundscape with Direct EQ - you'll get 3 preset EQ curves plus "flat." Supertuner III's outstanding reception quality makes listening to the radio a real pleasure. You'll have no trouble finding stations, thanks to travel presets and seek tuning. When you're ready to expand your car audio system to get more volume and punch, you'll find a set of rear preamp outputs for hooking in a component amplifier. Press the loudness button for robust, full-frequency sound at low volumes.

Go Ahead - De-face me! Pioneer DEH-2100 Auto CD Player

Review: Who let the cassette deck in my Honda? I can't believe that a top-edition 1996 model car would include a dinosaur like that in its stereo. Why didn't they go completely retro and make it an 8-track?

I love my Accord but I hated its stock...

The Bottom Line: Despite the inconvenience of tiny buttons (miniscule labeling), it's built like a tank. CD's don't skip even over railroad tracks. Not the top, but an excellent buy.

Review: First of all, I bought this Pioneer stereo as an upgrade from my stock am/fm cassette. I buy mostly cds for my home stereo. I just got tired of recording the music to a tape to listen to in the car. I did not buy this unit to make the earth rattle...
