Patanol is used to treat the symptoms of allergic pink eye. Olopatadine is in a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. Olopatadine comes as an eyedrop to apply to the eye. It is usually applied to the affected eye(s) twice a day, around 6 to 8 hours apart. To help you remember to use olopatadine, use it around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use olopatadine exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Some common side effects reported with this medicine include: dry eyes sore throat taste changes headache blurred vision eye burning or stinging.
