Nova - Nazi Prison Escape

NOVA presents the story of Colditz Castle in East Germany, the seemingly escape proof Nazi prison of World War II. Colditz Castle housed only the Allied soldiers who proved too troublesome or dangerous for the Nazis' other prisons, as most of them had already escaped from other prison camps. Still, despite the extreme difficulty of escaping from Colditz, more than 300 soldiers managed the feat. Britons, French, Belgians, Dutch, and even a few Americans pooled their resources and made some of the most daring prison breaks imaginable. Here, NOVA interviews some veterans of Colditz who relate the fantastic tales of their escape attempts, visits the virtually unchanged castle, and even recreates one of the most daring escapes from Colditz, an escape that relied on a home made glider.
