Have you noticed that watch designers have begun playing around with the location of the crown? When watches moved from the pocket to the wrist a century ago, the crown shifted from the 12 oclock position to the 3 position, where it has been a fixture ever since. Recently, though, theres been a trend to turn back the clock, as it were, and return the crown to the top of the watch. Movados Elliptica is an updated version of the firms Polyplan wristwatch introduced in 1912. The Polyplan had the crown at 12 and so does Elliptica.
