This bleak feature from Finland concerns Koiskinen, a night watchman in Helsinki. With no social life, this solitary figure becomes instantly smitten when a stunning blonde agrees to go a date with him. Little does he know, she's connected to a conman looking for someone to frame. Koiskinen tragically ends up doing time, but strangely enough leaves jail after two years with a new purpose and a new appreciation for life.

A grim view of modern Helsinki and Mafia-type crime

Pros: Finnish language, Helsinki streets

Cons: Dreary and dead souls, heartless Mafia-style crime, the drinking and smoking to excess

The Bottom Line: Not a film for the light-hearted! Grim indictment of old industrial city parts, hard lives, broken souls, crime addicts, drunks and hobos, in today's Helsinki
