Product Description

Spike Lee's drama is a complex, multilayered, and volatile look at interracial romance in present-day New York City. Flipper Purify (Wesley Snipes), an up-and-coming African American architect, seems to have it all: a successful career, a nice apartment on a renovated street in Harlem, a beautiful, intelligent wife whom he adores, and a bright, loving daughter. The last thing he expects is to find himself in an affair with a blue-collar Italian American from Bensonhurst. But soon after Angie Tucci (Annabella Sciorra) comes to work in his office, the two end up staying late together and having intimate talks over takeout Chinese food. Inevitably a romance begins, leaving Flipper and Angie caught up in the fury and suspicion of the racial prejudice of their families and friends. As their lives unravel, so does their affair, and they wonder if their relationship ever had a chance from the beginning. As usual with Lee, he isn't content to tackle simply one issue in his films--in JUNGLE FEVER, he addresses, f...

The World is Black, The World is White... She's Got Jungle Fever! We're in Love!

Date of Review:  Feb 19, 2007
The Bottom Line: Jungle Fever is a Provocative, Poignant Film from Spike Lee helmed by the Performances of Snipes, Sciorra, Jackson, Turturro, & Quinn. (4.5 out of 5)
Review: Interracial relationships is a discussion that is considered taboo in some circles though in recent year, it's not as scandalous as it was back in the 1950s or in the early 1990s. African-American director Spike Lee explored the world of interracial...

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

Date of Review:  Jul 20, 2004
The Bottom Line: This movie provides important insights into current race relations, as well as being thoroughly entertaining.
Review: JUNGLE FEVER is a Spike Lee follow up to his enormously popular Do The Right Thing, and again it explores black-white frictions.

In NYC, a black architect with the odd name of Flipper Purify (Wesley Snipes) becomes fascinated with his...

Spike's second-best

Date of Review:  Dec 30, 1999
Review: Spike Lee should have followed up Do the Right Thing with this film instead of Mo? Better Blues. It has all the best elements of Spike?s work -- a poignant mix of drama and comedy based on racial and social problems. Jungle Fever is almost just as...
