Jane's Addiction: Perry Farrell (vocals); Dave Navarro (guitar); Eric A. (bass); Stephen Perkins (drums). Principally recorded live at The Roxy, Hollywood, California. Personnel: Perry Farrell (vocals, harmonica); Dave Navarro (guitar, keyboards); Eric Avery (guitar); Stephen Perkins (drums, percussion). Audio Mixers: Eddy Schreyer; Patrick Von Wiegandt. Recording information: Roxy, Los Angeles, CA; The Edge. For its 1987 self-titled debut, Jane's Addiction decided to include both live and studio renditions of originals and covers. A couple of songs ("Pigs in Zen," "Jane Says") would be re-recorded for band's classic 1988 major label debut, NOTHING'S SHOCKING, but the rest of the selections can only be found here. Originals like "Trip Away," "Whores," "1%," and "I Would for You" have become classics among J.A.'s ardent following, while the album-closing "Chip Away" is a memorable percussion-driven experiment in sound.
