The roaring noise is exaggerated greatly in the last review....

Pros: Cools very fast, easy manual/install, powerful air flow, does not roar like lion beast, functional.
Cons: A heavier AIR FLOW sound than what you may be used to.
The Bottom Line: This is one powerful AC unit that will cool you down FAST on those hot/humid days. GREAT product.

Pros: price, works well at maintaining temp
Cons: cheap side skirts, not designed for windows with lips on them
The Bottom Line: Good for a renter, I would buy something nicer if it is a long term solution.
