The compass provides bearing information while you're standing still, and the altimeter determines your precise altitude and provides a 12-hour pressure-trend tool for gauging changing weather conditions.

Gets the job done in a small package

The Bottom Line: Small, basic unit without map capability that gets the job done. Takes some time to get the most out of it but definitely useful.

Review: I bought this little GPS because it was small and had a built-in compass. I had been using a Magellan GPS (the brown one) but liked the 301's compact size. I always put my waypoints into the gps with a computer so I didn't need a detailed display...
