The Portable Friction Mount from Garmin is a portable non-skid friction mount. Rather than attaching to windshield, this accessory is very tacky at its base, so as to not slide on the dash. It has a foil inside to allow it to be molded to fit various dash contours.

Pros: Works well, easy to stow under your seat, adjusts easily.

Cons: A bit pricey, after spending hundreds on a Garmin.

The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line is a big fan of friction in cars, but it usually costs more than $30.

Works surprisingly well, even on hills

Pros: Works on hills, easy access to GPS, easily hidable

Cons: Expensive, moves around slightly when roads are bumpy

The Bottom Line: A good solution for GPS if you live in California, or don't want a GPS windshield mount
