If you've managed to steer clear of the popular Dragon Ball Z anime for this long, you can be forgiven for thinking that Burst Limit is a game best ignored. Nevertheless, you'd be wrong. Though this 3D fighter is full of references for the fans, it's a good game in its own right and can serve as an easy point of entry into the DBZ universe.

Following successive, successful rounds in the fan-favorite DBZ: Budokai fighting game series for the 128-bit generation, Burst Limit raises the graphical resolution and adds online rankings, while remaining true to the high-flying, super-powered battles made famous in the Dragon Ball Z manga and anime. A total of 21 characters are playable, in five wide-open battle stages. Single-player battles are strung together on a storyline set during the popular Z Chronicles, beginning with the Saiyan Saga and ending with the Cell Saga. Cut scenes are rendered in-engine, with the same stages and character models used in battle, and optional mini-games allow players to unlock extras and explore the branching plot.
