Product Description

More adventures with Britain's space-faring Doctor. This time the Doctor (Jon Pertwee) and Jo (Katy Manning) attempt to take a trip, but wind up on in an otherworldy time travel freakout that takes them from 1926 to the age of the dinosaurs. Meanwhile, a fellow traveler shows the crew of the TARDIS a new invention that rivals the television, only with real live performances by miniature figures.

Doctor Who: Carnival of Monsters - Cheap, Tacky, and Surprisingly Good

Date of Review:  Mar 17, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you can get past the cheap look to the production, this actually is a pretty good story-arc, with some ground-breaking effects techniques.
Review: Doctor Who is a British science fiction television series which has been around off and on since 1963. The main character is just known as The Doctor and is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. This means he travels through time to various places...

Carnival of Monsters: Like the one in Brazil, only more monsters, less boobies

Date of Review:  Jan 9, 2007
The Bottom Line: More Doctor Who on DVD can only be a good thing.
Review: I know, I know. I m still avoiding the whole The Dalek Invasion of Earth business, leave me be for a while. I figure if I bang out a couple more reviews in general I can get the juices flowing enough to get back to everyone s favorite pepper-pots...

DOCTOR WHO: CARNIVAL OF MONSTERS - Roll up for the magical miniature tour!

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2008
The Bottom Line: A fun romp with a strong cast, some crap monsters and a bucket load of extras. Cant go wrong with that!
Review: Ooh, Jon Pertwee! It's been a while since we got one of his on shiny 6 inch disc! And it's another Robert Holmes? Well, this should be good! Well, lets get to it, shall we? But first, the standard Doctor Who Primer for those of you just joining us:...

The Doctor has promised Jo a holiday on Metebelis 3, but the Tardis materializes not on the famous blue planet, but in the cargo hold of the SS Bernice, sailing to India in 1926. Despite all appearances, the Doctor insists that they are no longer on Earth, but Jo's not convinced, at least not until a sea dinosaur attacks the ship! Millions of miles from Earth, a traveling showman named Vorg and his lovely assistant have arrived on Inter Minor to bring a little sunshine into the humdrum lives of the Minorian officials and functionaries. The dilapidated device they've brought looks rather unpromising until Vorg explains that the entertainment the Scope offers is "live"- it holds actual, miniaturized, living creatures kidnapped from every corner of the universe. There are Cybermen, Ogrons and even a party of rare Tellurians aboard a quaint steamship. Episode 4, Behind the scenes, model sequences, archival featurette by Barry Letts on CSO (blue screen), Actor Commentary, Behind The Scenes Footage, ...
