With these advanced video image technologies, the DVD-1920 will reproduce with the highest resolution, DVD images on Progressive- compliant monitors and projectors. In addition to these features, the DVD-1920's HDMI port supports multi-channel DVD-Video and DVD-Audio output when connected to HDMI compliant equipment. Excellent Audio and Video performance

Pros: You name it: precise audio, near perfect video, SACD ST/Multi ch playback, HDMI output, price!

Cons: No 1080p upconversion but that's just getting picky.

Denon 1920 has major problems

Pros: When it works, it works well with excellent audio and video quality.

Cons: Not truly compatible with recordable DVD formats and should not freeze up under any condition.

The Bottom Line: If you only care about playing mass market DVDs, this unit may be satisfactory for you. If you want to play anything else, look elsewhere.

Review: I bought this player mainly because it would play both DVD-A and SACD discs and because it contained a Faroudja scaler that would upscale everything to 1080i and transmit it over an HDMI link. I also relied on the web site for detailed specifications ...
