Coby's DVD-224 is about the size of a hardcover book, so whether you're ferrying the player between the kitchen and the bedroom or hooking it up for periodic use by the kids, the DVD-224's small size permits enjoyment of DVD programs and music CDs in just about any room you want. While not portable in the traditional sense--the unit has no screen and requires AC power--the DVD-224 is much easier to move around, set-up, and use than a traditional component DVD player.

THE COBY DVD-224 - the dirt cheap region free player rocks the house!

The Bottom Line: For 25 bucks I wasn't expecting much, but I got a pretty good system. No, it's not the best player I ever owned, but it's still surprisingly solid.

This DVD player is perfect for the person wanting a basic player and doesn't want to spend a lot of money. Nothing fancy and we've found a couple of DVD's that it doesn't play at all, but for the money we paid (9.99) we're happy with it.

I like this DVD player because of the low cost, and that it comes loaded with features that the big-priced DVD players have, including JPEG, and S-Video. There are ports for component cables for a richer picture, and you can also hook it up to an audio receiver, or directly to your TV. It does NOT have an HDMI hook up.It has an easy to use remote that is used for most of the operation of the features. Pros: Good price, Has all the features high-end DVD players have, Can view JPEG files Cons: No HDMI port
