Brother Odd: Koontz Gets Back On Track

Date of Review:  Apr 1, 2007
The Bottom Line: A definite read if you are (a) a Dean Koontz fan, (b) like macabre, yet humorous fiction or (c) were born in a year with an odd number in it.
Review: The Top Line

Dean Koontz published Odd Thomas in 2003 and immediately created one of his best characters. He then released the abysmal Forever Odd in 2005 and you wondered if Odd was a one-shot wonder. Fortunately Dean gets back on track...

Too Odd!!

Date of Review:  May 8, 2007
The Bottom Line: Dean Koontz has been a long-time favorite of mine. Brother Odd was not befitting his past works. This one did not work for me as a stand alone.
Review: Did I expect too much? Dean Koontz, in this third book about a young man with the ability to speak with, see, and intercede with supernatural forces and beings, did not deliver what I had anticipated. Brother Odd, Koontz s 2006 bestselling novel,...

He Ain't Odd...He's My Brother

Date of Review:  Mar 18, 2007
The Bottom Line: Odd has found his humor again.
Review: One would think that with the name Odd, life had handed you enough problems. Throw in the ability to see dead people, bodachs and psychic magnetism with the moniker of Odd... then life is a combination of terror, obligation and humor.

First Line

The third installment of Dean Koontz's bestselling "Odd Thomas" series finds Thomas, now 21, confronted with visions of "bodach" spirits, shadowy creatures that portend acts of terrible violence. Now Thomas, along with Brother Knuckles (a Mafioso turned monk) and the other strange yet heroic members of St. Bart's monastery, must find a way to avert the coming danger. Koontz swaps in some of his trademark suspense to create a humorous and thoroughly entertaining supernatural novel.
