The ADTRAN DSU IV ESP data service unit with embedded SNMP provides a reliable, high-speed data connection for customer data terminal equipment DTE through digital data service DDS lines. The DSU IV ESP has an embedded SNMP simple network management protocol agent that provides complete SNMP access to the unit through an integral SLIP or PPP async port. The DSU IV ESP's unique, modular approach provides optional 10BaseT Ethernet access for SNMP. Optional ESP DBU cards are available to provide automatic or manual dial backup for the dedicated circuit.

The ADTRAN® Data Service Unit (DSU) IV ESP™ is an all-rate data service/channel service unit (DSU/CSU) with an integral SNMP (simple network management protocol) agent. It provides an interface between digital data service (DDS) or 4-wire Switched 56 and the customer’s data terminal equipment (DTE) via EIA-32 and V.35 interfaces. The unit supports synchronous data transfer rates of up to 64 KBps and asynchronous data transfer rates of up to 57.6 KBps. The Dial Back Up (DBU) feature of the DSU IV ESP allows automatic or manual switched backup in the event of a dedicated line failure. Upon recognition of a failure, the unit connects to the remote end using the switched network. The DSU IV unit responds to standard loopback commands from the telephone company central office. Complete control, configuration, and diagnosis are available through a 16-key keypad and a two-line by 16-character LCD display.
