The Netbook Revolution: Coffee House Browsing and Meetings With Style!

The Bottom Line: A good laptop for meetings or coffee shop browsing from the category leader. I would also consider the HP MiniNote and Acer Aspire One if you find the keyboard annoying.

The Bottom Line: A fantastic computer as a portable addition to a desktop. Don't use as a primary computer, as netbooks aren't designed for that. One of the better Netbooks out there.

Size matters, no matter what anybody says, and sometimes smaller is better. Especially if you know what to do with it, and Asus does. The Eee PC 1000H is designed for people that need lots of power in a small package. The Intel Atom N270 CPU and 1GB of memory run this Windows XP system with power to spare. A 160GB hard drive has plenty of room for you work and entertainment files. The 10 screen has a 1024x600 resolution. Because of the smaller screen you can easily use it on a plane or train. The keyboard goes all the way out to the edge of the case and is 95% of the size of a standard keyboard so using it will feel normal. Designed to be used anywhere there is a built in WiFi controller that supports 802.11b/g protocols. If there is no wireless signal around then you can plug into a standard Fast Ethernet connection. A webcam lets you have video chats.
