The superb-sounding Altec Lansing AHP712 headphones with Active Noise Reduction are ideal for the frequent traveler and anyone in a noisy environment. Active Noise Reduction technology uses small microphones to listen to ambient sounds and special circuitry to create a sound wave 180 degrees out of phase from the ambient sounds. When the sound wave is played through the headphones, it reduces ambient noises, such as airplane engines and subway rumbles, to allow you to focus on your music, movies or games.

Great sound low to high freq., good noise canceling.

The Bottom Line: These are a definite BUY if you are considering noise cancelling headphones. I would be amazed if the Bose was worth over $200 more.
Review: The previous review titled "Great headphones for high noise environments" gives a very detailed and correct description of these headphones. I agree that the earpads do get warm if the ambient temperature is also warm. But they never got...

Great headphones for high noise environments

The Bottom Line: highly recommended for anyone who wishes to listen to their music in a high noise environment. For typical household noise levels, I recommend using regular headphones instead.
Review: Active Noise Canceling, or Active Noise reduction headphones are a remarkable technology. Using microphones, they listen to the "Noise" outside of the headphones, then generate that same noise except they invert the sound wave, effectively canceling...
