Product Description

Coalesce: Sean Ingram (vocals); Jes Steineger (guitar); Nathan Ellis (bass); James Dewees (drums, electronics); Larry (background vocals). Recorded at Red House Studios, Eudora, Kansas. The hordes of skill-flaunting metalcore bands that flooded the headbanging landscape of the early 2000s may not have even been aware of how much they learned from Kansas City's legendary Coalesce. 1999's justly lauded classic 012 REVOLUTION IN JUST LISTENING heralded the next step in evolution for metal-tinged hardcore. Relapse Records prepared a re-packaged and re-mastered version of 012 to remind listeners of Coalesce's explosive prime. The stuttering, twisted riffs and neck-snapping time shifts borrowed were from prog rock, Blacks Flag, and Sabbath in equal measure; but by combining those elements they created an unbreakable alloy of their own. Nihilistic, technically imposing songs like "Cowards.com" and "Sometimes Selling Out is Waking Up" stop on a dime and scorch like a flamethrower.
