The Sweet has turned Sour!

"Sweetwater" has gone sour. They used to be a Trusted source of music gear. Now they have poor customer support, while keeping the Propaganda Machine going by printing only good reviews at their web site.
If you submit a complaint of any kind in a product review, they won't print it. I was sent to a manufacturer's web site for customer service on something I bought from them. That's not customer service. I can do that myself. And when I submitted a review describing the experience, they blocked it. Furthermore, once you DARE to complain, they Block you from communicating with them through their web site. They actually BLACK LIST customers who complain about bad service! I guess they really don't want to keep any customers. |

I had no problems with Sweetwater. I got my order in a timely manner and was happy with the careful packaging. My sales engineer was helpful and I liked the idea of having a familiar person to contact if I needed anything. Receiving a phone call to "confirm my address" and find out how I'd heard about Sweetwater felt a mite invasive and unnecessary to me, but not so much that I would give them a bad review for it. I haven't been harrassed by phone calls or further promtings to buy stuff, like I have read about in some reviews. Hopefully that doesn't happen.
After reading some of the more negative reviews, I am not quite as enthusiastic about Sweetwater as I originally was, but I would still consider ordering from them again, since I personally had no problems. |

Stay away from Sweetwater-Gearnuts as they will not approve anybody for their pay plans. I was instantly approved to buy a $500 guitar from zzounds and am enjoying very much. I saw that Gearnuts-Sweetwater also has a pan play. I went to purchase a $60 audio interface from Gearnuts and gave them $30 up front for their first payment and processing fee. They checked my credit and denied my purchase. They don't want your business unless you make 25 million dollars a year.

The idiots sent an order that I cancelled before they even had the product in stock, and then they had the nerve to charge me a restocking fee. Furthermore, upon cancelling my order, they told me that I would not likely find the product elsewhere yet since it was so new. I did find the product elsewhere and wanted it more quickly; hence the cancellation with Sweetwater. Even after receiving the response to my cancellation they sent the cancelled product anyway and never fully refunded my money. Sweetwater is Sour. Stick with Musician's Friend, American Musical Supply, or support your local brick and mortar store, but steer clear of Sweatwater!

All I did was buy an inexpensive piece of Toontrack software, and got "harassed" for about a year following that purchase. Sweetwater kept using the "we're just calling to make sure you haven't had any problems with your software" ploy. In fact I believe they called me about 10 minutes after I completed the online purchase. It's kind of an online version of the way local music stores were in the eighties. I won't buy from Sweetwater again unless they have something that I can't get anywhere else, and I purchase a throw away Bat (Sweetwater) Phone first so they can never call me again. |

SweetWater has a total lack of common sense business model, and therefore consequently financially hurts the company, due to SPECIFIC business practices adopted by Sweetwater
Sweetwater is willing to lose $500.00 usd or more sales orders, if there's an event where the bank card address and shipping address are different yes, that's right, pretty ridiculous, and definately a lack of common sense for instance: so if you want to send something to your cousin in New York and you live in California, you can't do it, UNLESS you are willing to put that address on your credit card, thereby SIGNIFICANTLY INCONVENIENCING the customer to contact his/her bank credit card division Sweetwater FULLY DEMANDS that a customer, who has plenty of funds in account, and can VERIFY account information and that the card is a non-expired card expects that the customer contact their bank, and make ADJUSTMENTS to their credit card to complete sale just ridiculous, go to musicians friend &/or guitar center and don't deal with these clowns(as those companies don't have such ridiculous requirements) |

After I placed my order, they actually called me to confirm- very rare in the age of computers! My delivery arrived days before they said it would, and there were smarties in the box, which I thought was pretty fun.

Quick to take your Paypal funds, but very slow (5 days) to refund. You'll have to wait till October to get a Little Martin Koa, so beware before placing an order.

I recently bought a Gibson 498T from sweetwater. Man, this has to be THE BEST online store I have ever delt with. I placed my order yesterday, early this morning I got a phone call from the company itself to thank me for buying from them. The man was very kind and also offered to send me an email so I can email him if I ever have any questions. Customer service win! Not to mention this is the only musicians website that offers free shipping on some items under 99 bucks. Thats the whole reason I went with these guys. I didnt want to give musicians friend or guitar center an extra 8 bucks for shipping, or buy picks that I dont need to make my order 99+ dollars for free shipping. Will be buying from sweetwater from now on.

On line site stated they had Epiphone Les Paul guitar case in stock at $69.99, a few days later received email stating case was not in stock and wouldn't be for another 30 days. Customer service had good follow up but they shoudn't use teaser prices to draw you to site if they don't have item.

I've purchased a couple Shure products from Sweeterwater.com with no problems. Customer service was A+ and I received the product in a timely manner. They aren't the cheapest but service is more important to me. One order I entered the incorrect number. They were more than happy to let me return the product and credit my account. Received the new product within a couple of days. I have another order to place and am going to give them another shot. I am a REAL customer, not an employee!

I'll walk down the list here:
My item (a new case for my bass guitar) was delivered on time and it was free shipping which a lot of these sites do not do. I got the item I asked for - it was in good condition also (no scratches, dents). Customer service I didn't have to deal with, although they did email me to confirm the item was shipped which I like. Overall I am happy - I got a great deal on my guitar case and the shipping was free. I'd definitely shop here again. |

I mentioned a wireless microphone system and they were able to give me relevant information to consider. There was no pressure to change or add to my order. I ordered from Sweetwater for the first time yesterday, and I couldn't be more pleased. First of all, they had the best price for the item I purchased, plus free shipping and no tax. Today I received a call from one of their customer service reps, who wanted to make sure that my shopping experience was satisfactory.

When I waited too late to purchase my son's guitar for Christmas, I was frantically searching the Net for one and found it at Sweetwater. I was amazed at their customer service. They called me immediately after I placed the order because I had checked that it was a gift and I had used my business address. The guy was so nice and told me they were always there if we had questions or concerns about the product once it arrived.He gave me his number and extension and his assistant's number and extension. The order shipped super fast.
On Christmas Eve, when I realized I was one gift short for this same child, I was able to order a gift certificate on-line and have it e-mailed to me so that I could wrap it. Most websites will only mail them. Then today when my son used the gift certificate, we received an e-mail a short time later saying the items had shipped. Not to mention the shipping was free! They've won our business (for as long as this music phase lasts). |

I did not list my parents home phone number on my order so I assume they looked them up on the internet. I hope they read this reveiw and stop harassing me. I did nothing wrong as a customer. Wow these guys hit me good. Bought a gig bag hardshell bass case and a pedal. Hardcase was sold as new for $125, received a used and damaged hard case. I can't believe that. Was also sent the pedal in a different shipment and was sent to my billing address instead of my shipping address. The pedal was lost. Now I have a used hardshell case, no pedal and a show to play tomorrow night. WATCH OUT FOR THESE GUYS!
