Worst Buying Experience EVER! Promised products never delivered; customer NEVER CONTACTED!

I bought an entire bedroom set, which was documented to be completely in stock. After three weeks of waiting, checked the status and discovered order was cancelled and I WAS NEVER CONTACTED! Corporate managers offered another bedroom at a discount and more waiting for delivery. Of course the price for this set was much more than the one I was promised (which had a higher original retail price) Stephanie the corp. manger, didn't even deny that this was bait and switch in our phone conversation. Bottom line- I didn't get my bedroom set for Christmas and as a result our family went through a lot of stress. We missed many other opportunities to buy another set from another store during the wasted three weeks. We even made additonal purchases based on the savings from the original set, so there was no more money in the budget to spend on another bedroom set. GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR FURNITURE if you want to save yourself the headache!

The customer service was great! Everyone seemed like they loved their job. I had to make several returns though...This was because of a size change...Although this took a while because of different reciepts with different purchases, the associate was very nice and professional, and very informative. She (jammela) asked me to take a survey, which I did to get the 15% coupon, man this store is great! Will come again!

Don't place an online furniture order from JCPenney unless you're 100% sure you want it. They recently (Sept 2011?) changed their 7-day furniture return policy to "ALL SALES FINAL". Check Kohls, Overstock, Target, even Walmart, as they have much of the same stuff, often for much less than JCP and you can return it if it doesn't work.

I have to remember not to get anything from JC unless they're offering something I want for free. Most other stores - Macy's, Kohls will honor returns at a local store even if the purchase was made online. But not JC. Not only did I pay shipping to me $5.99, but I had to pay return postage via UPS $8.95. Bogus!!!!!!!

I could not believe how bad the customer service was. The sales lady was very nice, naturally, but beyond taking my money, they were miserable to deal with. I received a call at 10am stating they'd be delivering my furniture in 30 min, so I left work and was home in 30 minutes, after waiting 20 minutes when nobody showed up, I called the delivery man repeatedly with no answer, so I returned to work. Then at 10:50, after returning to work, I received another call telling me he'd be there in 30 minutes. I told him I waited for him and he could have at least called me to let me know he was going to be late and I would need the delivery for the next day as I already took time out of my work day to meet with him. I then received a phone call from an extremely rude lady that got really ghetto on me and blamed me for declining deliver!
Keep the furniture JC Penny, no sale is worth dealing with your rude ghetto customer service! |

JC Penney delivery a defective recliner to us and will not pick it up and refund our money. With the foot rest extended it wobbles to the point you think you are going to flip out of it. We've been waiting for over a month for their delivery people to call us back to schedule a pickup.
We've been calling the Customer No Service number regularly, but they simply add a note that we called. They say the delivery group is backed up and we have to wait for a call back. |

I ordered online and kept checking the UPS tracking. I was excited when I checked at work one day and saw that UPS had delivered the package and left it on my front porch. Unfortunately I got home and there was no package. My husband, who works from home, said "No, UPS didn't come today". So, I called UPS and they told me to call JCP. I called JCP and told the customer service rep what happened. She asked for my order number and said,"ok, let me credit back your card...do you just want me to place the order again?"
I was very surprised because I had been expecting the typical hassle that I've experienced with customer service issues at other companies in the past. This was definitely the least stressful and most pleasant customer service experience I have ever had. |

I ordered christmas/birthday gifts online during thanksgiving weekend 2009. I saw them in the store but when I looked online the prices were much cheaper plus I got to use the extra 20% off coupon. One of my items arrived Dec 7th. I thought that was a little long since it said 4-7 days. I was even more upset to find they charged me the original price of the item, not the sale price or the 20% off. I emailed them and called and they said it would take 3-7 days for my account to be credited since their website had a few errors. Then I was sent an email Dec 15th saying my last item is backordered until Dec 22nd. I was shocked when the item arrived Dec 16th. Why would they take weeks to notify me that one of my items may be backordered? Its the holidays. I have never had this problem before. To make matters worse I did not even need the last item because it arrived too late. My account still has not been credited.

After 35 years have cancelled my JC Penny credit card and I will never shop at JC Penny again! For the second time I have returned an item, using the JC Penny return label and filled out the proper return information...only to not be credited for the return. My attempts to correct the situation was only met by indifference and a waste of my valuable time. Even when I told them I was cancelling my card I was cheefully told that they would cancel it, and stating that they would note that I was cancelling due to the lack of support I received in regards to my uncredited return. Sure, I could insure my returns in the future. I could send them via a carrier that requires a signature, but why should I have to jump through hoops for JC Penny when there are so many retailers that don't have the return problems that penny's has? I will take my business elsewhere. They don't need me and I don't need them. Bad form jc penny!

I placed an order (last 4 digits of the order 7750) on 21 Feb 2009 (yes, over four months ago) and it has not yet been shipped. Latest ship date shows July 17 (lets see if JCP will at least ship after 5 months). I've received two emails blaming the manufaturer for the delay, however the JC Penney website still shows the product in stock (Heys USA 4WD 3-pc. Spinner Set- exact color - Dark Blue/Navy that I needed). My emails don't seem to be getting a proper response except blaming it on the manufacturer. Is there a way to escalate or take legal action ?

I will never ordered from JCP again. If you aren't sure exactly your product, don't buy. I ordered a pillow from their website with 10 dollars coupon. Since the pillow is too flat, I have to return it. They will take out that 10 dollars they paid for you on the coupon and make you pay the shipping when you return your product. I dont mind paying the shipping if I dont have that coupon. Why dont I order it from other sites than JCP which will refund you the full product price if I figure it is not something I want?

Stay away from the furniture. It is poorly built, looks great on arrival but within three months it looks at least ten years old. I ordered 1 sofa, 1 loveseatchair and ottman for my daughter as a gift. It is so embarrassing everytime I go to visit. The furniture feels like it is pitching forward, the fabric is coming apart. It does no good to call Customer Service, no one will ever call you back. I ordered ONE sofa, they billed me for TWO and finally took the sofa off my account, but refused to subtract the interest. I am through with JC Penney after many, many years of being a loyal customer. In the next couple of weeks, will pay account up, close it and never darken their door again. This was Chris Madden furniture. It has been a horrible experience.

I would avoid them like the plague. They mistreated my elderly mother horribly. She accidently put a stop check on a payment she them. Her checkbook was misplaced and she lost count of what checks were written. She immediately called JC Penney’s to try to fix the problem. She then was told not to worry about it the account was fine. This time frame is less than a week. A day later she received numerous phone calls threatening her credit and her condo from this payment she made but still owes to JC Penney's. She went back to JC Penney’s and was told her account had been paid in full by a collection agency and to take it up with them. It was maybe a week not more past due date. She kept getting harasses night and day by this company demanding payment and an exorbitant fee. She was mistreated by JC Penney’s and the collection agency. In this state of the economy I guess JC Penney can afford to lose longtime customers (over 45 years). Be careful of these tactics used by JC Penney’s. |

Great store & service, terrible product! I ordered two aluminum chaise lounges recently discounted. Two days later they discounted them again. I called JCP & they refunded my credit card for the difference . The items arrived in one week! Fast! One chair had a piece broken out of it, still in the box. I asked for a discount, my husband is a welder & counld fix it, they gave me 10% off my total order! Great. The chairs were poorly cast, hard to fit together, the sides scrape the back piece when the chair angle is adjusted.....the cushions are 6" longer than the chair....my husbands feet hang over the end of the chaise, his head hits the top of the chair back.
