I bought the cat waterer and after month 3, the motor stopped working. I took the manual's advice about cleaning it, which I did and still it would not work. I phoned Hammacher and they sent me out a new motor. Two years later, the same thing happened to the waterer. I phoned them up and they replaced the motor even though the manufacturer's warranty had expired, but they offered lifetime warrantly on their products which they stood behind.
The cons I have with the company is how much it costs in shipping, their shipping surcharge and then the duties that have to be paid to cross items over the border. |

Ordered an LED Christmas tree Nov 23 2010 and when it arrived nearly a month later due to back order it had a dead short in one of the light runs. Obviously no one tested it at factory Hammacher Schlemmer Cust service says too bad no fix for problem - now I don't have a tree for Christmas and everyone else is sold out untill next year - it seems Hammacher Schlemmer is unfamiliar with the concept of customer service. They said replace the fuse and when I did and then plugged it in there was a flash and a loud pop as it shorted out again and smoked up my house -"luck I didn't have a fire" guess what - they don't care!!!

Delivery speed - fine, got here from West Chester quickly
Order accuracy - fine, all items in the order arrived Customer Service - I thought their guaranteed satisfaction claim meant what it stated. I failed to read the fine print on the return form. There is an exception for items which don't work as advertized. The slide converter produced mediocre results for which I was charged $10.95 upon return. I don't see using Hammacher again. |

It is an absolute PAIN to have to return an item from a company, but, at Hammacher Schlemmer, I called them, promptly got a representative, told them the slight problem defect with my item, they asked for my address, and I will receive an exchange, new item in 3-6 days no charge! Products are great on this website, and customer service is amazing (and you don't hear that that often these days!). Great website and company. Besides this small mishap with this item, all of the previous items have worked wonderfully!

I ordered an item on December 1 2009. Items must be ordered before December 6 2009 for guaranteed delivery for Christmas. It is now January 4 2010 and customer service reps have told me I have to wait another 10 business days. Customer service reps were rude, disrespectful, and lack common knowledge on items. Information regarding my order changed from customer service rep to customer service rep. I requested that forms be emailed to me which never happened. This item which was supposed to be a wonderful Christmas gift is now going to be dreadfully late, exactly 25 days after Christmas.
DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM THIS WEBSITE OR THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO WAIT FOREVER FOR YOUR ITEM, BE DISRESPECTED, OR GET THE RUN AROUND FOR AT LEAST A MONTH AND A HALF. GUARANTEES ARE NOT UPHELD AND YOUR PURCHASE DOES NOT MATTER. |

Ordered freshly cut Xmas tree for handicapped son. Promised delivery 12/7 thru 12/13/09....cost over 200.00. Shipped and order statu gave a UPS tracking number that was wrong. Called and e-mailed customer service 8 times and got different stories: the number is right; we don't have tracking numbers from this vendor; call UPS to verify; call us on 12/13 after 8pm if it's not there (UPS doesn't deliver on Sunay); it will be there on time; it's a a drop ship and cold 2-3 weeks, etc. Well, it was late and the tracking number was wrong....a totally inept, imcompetent and uncaring service department. Finally rebated shipping charge....a great Christmas! Avoid them like the plague!

This was once a great source for high-quality, often unique merchandise. Recently, it has begun selling cheap plastic garbage at titanium prices. The first warning was the "Ultimate Breadbox", which proved to be two simple, interlocking plastic boxes that would have at least been functional if they were airtight, but instead had numerous inexplicable dime-sized holes bored in, absolutely guaranteeing quick staleness. Nice.
Undaunted, I ordered the Ultimate In-Shower Shaving Mirror. This proved to be a hulking hunk of garish plastic, with poorly-shielded electrical connections guaranteed to die quickly in a damp environment. The LED light switch failed within a week, and the mirror began to deteriorate in a month. The suction cups were insufficient to bear the weight of the tawdry mass of plastic, so it fell off the wall repeatedly. Finally, I took a hint from the company name and put it out of its misery with a hammer. It's sad to see a once-reliable brand turn into this. |

I was very frustrated with the customer service. If you are ordering from Canada, forget it! I cost me all most as must for the shipping as it cost me for the item itself. My original invoice that was sent was for $58.67 and they actually charged me over $131! After several attempts to have the issue rectified, I still was only given a refund of $36. The products are tempting but the hassle is not worth it. I will never order from this store again and will not recommend it to anyone.

I had heard good things about this e-tailer and so was very disappointed with my recent experience. I had ordered a birthday gift for my husband, a rather expensive heated vest. When it arrived it was 2 sizes larger than I had ordered. Customer service told me to go ahead and ship back to them via UPS and that shipping costs would be paid by the company. Long story short, I paid the shipping and have gotten nothing but runarounds and evasiveness since. Each contact with customer service I am told that the shipping charge is being credited and more than a week, five phone calls and two faxed receipts later nothing has been done. Totally inept, or deliberately misleading? The end result is the same: I will not do business with this company again.

I ordered two of the Progression Wake Up Clocks from Hammacher Schlemmer and I thought them both to be of high quality with well thought out design. I bought one for a gift and one for myself and have been using it for about six weeks now. I think it is outstanding.
Also, when one of the clocks arrived the light bulb was damaged in shipping. I called Hammacher Schlemmer and the Customer Service was great and they sent me a new one right away. I'd shop here again. |

I placed an order @ hammacher schemmler online after reading the rave reviews though the price was about 10% more than what other retailers sell it for. But, their order processing is very disappointing. When i placed the order, the web page said it was available to be shipped immediately and still after four days it was not shipped.
When i called the customer service, they said my credit card company wanted me to call them and that is the reason why it was not shipped (note: there was no communication from hammacher whatsoever until i called them). I called the bank and they said they never got anything from hammacher and i had purchased other items online before and after, on the same day i placed this order, using the same credit card and it had gone through just fine. |

On the morning of December 15 I ordered several items as gifts and paid for premium shipping (2-3 days). It was not until one week later on December 22 that I received e-mail notification that one of the items was out of stock and would not arrive until after Christmas.
I placed a call to Hammacher Schlemmer's customer service number and was told that I was "fortunate" to be getting any presents delivered in time for Christmas and was called "rude" for questioning why I wasn't informed for an entire week that my order could not be filled. Because of the late date I ordered a more expensive gift to be rush shipped to replace the one that was not available. I was assured at that time that my other gifts would arrive on time. Well, they didn't. I do most of my shopping on line and Hammacher Schlemmer is BY FAR the worst company I have ever ordered from. |

I have purchased from Hammacher Schlemmer Online Store several times. Last year I purchased the Roomba Discovery SE, which is a GREAT product. Seven months later, my Roomba had problems. I sent an email and received a very prompt response with the option to return for an exchange, or call and order another one, then receive credit upon receipt of defective unit. I opted for the quick exchange. The customer service people were so courteous and helpful. There was no hassle. My new product was shipped out quickly. My experience with this company has been absolutely fabulous. I would highly recommend them.

Anyone who elects to buy anything from Hammacher Schlemmer should be aware that they are very likely paying much more than they need to.
That is, almost anything available at Hammacher Schlemmer is available elsewhere for less money. (One recent example: Hammacher charges $129.99 for an XACT XG2500 Cordless Headset Earphone which is available at J and R for $89.99.) The Hammacher Schlemmer people clearly make efforts to hide brand names and/or model numbers so that one cannot search for items at a lower price. As well, the store does not offer a price guarantee policy. Unless you enjoy paying much more than you need to, I would strongly advise people to buy elsewhere. |

On October 17, 2003, I ordered $777 worth of merchandise from Hammacher Schlemmer. On October 25, I received a letter from them which included my personal check that had not been cashed. The letter stated that my check had been declined because the funds were unverifiable. I had in excess of $5000.00 in the account at the time and suspect that they simply didn't bother to check with my bank. Evidently, they are doing very well financially, since they didn't even bother to attempt to cash my check and apparently can well afford to lose $777 worth of business. That said, I have contacted all of my customers and aquaintances by email about their shoddy business practices and will never again waste my time attempting to do business with this company.
