Amazon will now be getting all of my previous B&N business because apparently I am not a valued customer as per their email after cancelling my order for not being able to fulfill it. How a company deals with their mistakes defines them, and B&N has now defined themselves as irresponsible towards their customers.

They advertise items on their website as fully in stock inviting consumers to buy from them. They let you place the order, then charge your card and then update shipping status so you think that you're ask set.then after nearly 24 hours you get an email

Just got a nook for Christmas. I have been very impressed with their customer service. The site is excellent and easy to navigate. Downloading books is a breeze and inexpensive, too.

I received an email with a coupon for 25% off any one item. I tried to use the coupon that day on an item and it told me that the coupon could not be applied. I emailed Barnes & Noble that day and told them the issue. Approximately 2 weeks later I finally get an email back from them and they have the nerve to say basically sorry we can't help you, the coupon expired on 11/14/10. If they had replied to my email in a timely fashion the coupon would not have been expired. They wait 2 weeks to reply to my email and then have the nerve to say that???? Are they kidding me???? I have since ordered the item from someone else who appreciates my business, has great customer service and does not send ridiculous emails to FORMER customers.

I heartily agree with the other reviews who slam barnesandnoble.com. Their customer service is atrocious! I have been trying to obtain a refund on a mis-delivered package (which is also partly the fault of UPS), but have met with total resistance on the part of Barnes and Noble to help me or deal efficiently with this problem. If you order from them, just pray you have no problems.

I have had no trouble with this online store. However, I always check Amazon.com first. Amazon often has lower prices. If the price for an item is the same in both places, or if B&N has a lower price, I try to order from Barnes & Noble instead.

Terrible online experience. Allow coupons at checkout and confirm and then raise price. Orders are not able to be cancelled even when unshipped. No money back returns at store. Very poor customer service.. Try somewhere else, I like overstock or Amazon.

I just used the Barnes and Noble website to make an order, and it charged the credit card on which I had made a previous purchase, without giving me a chance to make a change. I have engaged in e-commerce with many companies for many years now, and have yet to find a site so awful to navigate. As well, when I called minutes later and attempted to cancel my order, I was told that I could not cancel my order, and had to have the card I had not authorized to be charged. I will have to go through the hassle of returning the package, because I was told their "system would not allow cancellations." When I called into their "customer service" line, there was the option to cancel orders, yet, when I finally got a live person, they said that that option is not available to anyone making any internet order. This is ludicrous, and I will not be shopping with Barnes and Noble again ever, for any reason!

I have ordered from Barnes and Noble twice and wasn't happy either time. The first time it took about 3 weeks to receive the one book that I ordered. The second time I am still dealing with now. I ordered two books for my daughter for Christmas. The shipping was great. I got the order in about 1 week. The problem is that I only received one of the books that I ordered and it said they were both included in the shipment. I was charged for both books. After 3 emails and two phones calls I still haven't received the credit to my debit card that they keep promising me.

My family lived near Des Moines and then Omaha over the past seven years, and as such Barnes and Noble bookstores became a staple for us. However, about 14 months ago we moved back to Montana, and a rural part at that. (Yes, most of Montana is rural!)

I love it. It's better than the physical store because the books haven't been viewed by other people. I intend to take advantage of the free shipping...and use the store to browse for free.
