Poor Quailty and High Price, Yey!!

Such terriable quailty on there products.  Especially the wood products, somone how C&B has managed to make furiture that has lower quailty than IKEA, and that is a lower bar. Stuff looks great in the show room, in the catalog and on the internet, but after 2 months everything I purchased there is either broken or the crappy paint is coming off, Please do yourself a favor and do not purchase anything from these shysters of cheap chinese furniture.

worst product and expensive

 Architect White Lamp

This product looks ok but actual shape is same as normal cheap desk lamp which you can purchase at Art supply store. I took it out from the box and try to hang on desk edge and hold crib was break. I really disappointed this product and I fixed it using glue. Finally I hang this lamp on my desk. After 1 week, On and Off switch was not working. Whenever I turn a top of switch it make noise, some kind of clicking sound and it's not working. I really can't believe this item. I never had experience for purchasing real cheap grade product to pay 2 times more.

I ordered something from Crate&Barrel for a weding registery. I did not notice on any of the forms an opt in/out for email or for snail mail. Shortly after I ordered I received an email saying thanks for opting in to receive email and snail mail. I went through a process to be removed. They try to make it very hard. I then called the number and they said that I would receive additional emails and snail mails, up to three catalogs. I told them that made no sense since I had just ordered. No help, they said I would receive up to three catalogs. It is obviously a scam. I will never order from them again.

Lousy

In Mid October I ordered a sectional that was supposed to be at the dist. center in 9-11 weeks. When I called 8 weeks in (approx Dec 8th) to try and get a specific date, I was told it wouldn't be to the dist. center until the last week of January at best, and that I wouldn't see it for a few weeks after that. Essentially I had to wait another 8 weeks. When I asked why? I was repeatedly told that this is just normal this time of year with holidays etc...I asked why I was never informed of the delay that was at least going to be one month, they said that the manufacturer never told them of the delay, so that's why I was never contacted. If these are normal delays then I should have been told up front that I probably shouldn't expect the furniture for 15-18 weeks instead of the 9-11 which they said. I guess they just didn't want to risk losing a sale, and rather take the chance of losing a customer. Very dissappointed!!!

awful furniture experience

I purchase a sectional some time ago at crate and barrel. At the time I was quotted a 7-9 week time for delivery. 6 weeks in, I was informed that the fabric was not available. Why did it take so long to find that out? Now I was told it'd be another possible 7-9 weeks out. Of course I wanted to cancel my order but since I ordered it in a different fabric, I was told the order was custom and I could not return it. The more I complained I was finally told I could cancel with a 20 percent restocking fee? Its not built yet, how can it be a restocking fee. Then I was told that I may be able to get compensation for my troubles after the delivery takes place, whenever that'll be in the form of a gift certificate. I could only laugh, do they really think I'd ever shop there again? Trust me after talking with others with similar experiences and even chatting with an ex customer service employee on how they treat issues, I'll never shop there again and I suggest you don't either.

A model online retailer

If only all online retailers were as reliable and trustworthy as C&B. I've been shopping at Crate and Barrel for years. I love the selection, fair prices, predictable quality, and on time delivery. I've ordered items many times both from their housewares department, and have even ordered some heavy furniture items online (coffee/side tables, chairs). Their standard delivery is prompt, and always well packaged (primarily in recyclable packing materials). Their furniture delivery and customer service has always been excellent. Very highly recommended.

Great Shopping Experience!

We ordered a piece of furniture from the store (over the phone) and it was delivered on-time, by 2 very professional men. They unwrapped it, set it up and even offered to install electronics inside of it for us. They removed all packing material and debris.
They were quick to send us a thank-you card afterward and followed up with a phone call.
All in all a very good experience.

If I could buy one of everything Crate and Barrel sells I would! Their clearance section online is something to definitely check out as well! They have some items in this section that are still full price in their stores!!!

Shipment is always made quickly. I have never received orders with errors. Everything I have ordered, including clearance, has been available. Merchandise is TOP NOTCH!

I LOVE this store with all of my heart! I have stocked my kitchen and main bath with many items from here and also from www.CB2.com

Horrible, Will Not Order From Here Again

This store's service and delivery has gone completely downhill......I have purchased tens of thousands of dollars worth of items/furniture on-line from Crate & Barrel over the last three years and was very pleased -- until lately. I have just cancelled a furniture order as I sat here the entire afternoon waiting for a delivery that never came. In addition, delivery of my "order" has dragged out over a week now with one item at a time showing up here and there at my door.....I still do not have a complete dinnerware set and only rec'd one pillow of 4, etc. No forewarning at all and no help from customer service. Forget it -- I'm taking my money elsewhere......

Shipping Charges are a Rip-Off

Crate & Barrel charges shipping based on the total value of your order. Shipping charges are NOT based on ANYTHING related to how shipping charges are calculated by shipping companies (i.e. WEIGHT and SIZE). Consequently, you will be charged 10% of your total bill for shipping if your order is over $200. Think about that. If you order bed linens and towels like I did and suppose you ordered $500 worth, you will be charged $50 shipping. $50!!( I ordered towels and linens, not a bed!)

Shipping charges are a rip-off.

OK on-line store but no product support with my experience.

Although it's easy to shop on-line at C&B and shipping is fast, customer service in regard to helping with product defects may lie somewhere in the caveat emptor realm. I recently purchased a glass and metal media stand which was very easy to assemble. However, the small rubber stick-on bumpons under the heavy glass shelf which supported a 20lb stereo receiver (the shelves are rated for 75lbs according to C&B) migrated off the edge of the metal frame 3 times within a 3 day period causing the shelf to fall on the metal frame each time. The shear force on the tiny rubber bumpons was such that unless the shelf was spirit-level horizontal, they gradually moved off the metal shelf support. C&B said that I could send the unit back (at the expense of my time and, presumably cost of shipping) but would not provide me with the simple fix of providing some cheap adequate shelf supports. C&B's customer service person was very polite on the telephone, but as the inn keeper in Les Miserables said "Doesn't cost me to be nice".

Delivery dates for back-ordered furniture are sheer fantasy, and customer service is spotty at best.

I went to the store and found a couple of great tables. After looking around at other stores, I decided I wanted to purchase them. I placed the order and found that they were on back-order.

To make a relatively long story relatively short, customer service was non-existent. I was lied to about when the furniture would arrive over and over again, even told it would be there "any day now," when the reality was that stock would not come in for over a month. Customer service people were constantly constrained by what "their computers would let them do," which didn't happen to include finding out where a piece of furniture actually was or allowing a timely delivery for a client who'd already had a pretty dastardly experience.

Speedy delivery, excellent quality, excellent customer service

My recent order arrived with due speed and the order was accurate. Among the items were 6 glasses. They were so well packed there wasn't a chance of breakage - so was a glass plate. All items were as represented and of excellent quality. One inexpensive acrylic item had some tiny scratches. I opted not to send it back but advised them in an e-mail of the problem so they would be aware of it. I received a reply that they would remove it from my charge card. They did not ask me to return it. This is what I call excellent customer service.

Very Disappointed!

I placed an online order from the bridal registry on April 20,2004 for a bridal shower on May 2, 2004. The package didn't arrive until May 4,2004 which is obviously too late for the shower. The thing that annoyed me more is that I paid an extra $21 for gift boxing which to me meant that it would come ready to give as a gift. Don't be fooled, all that means is that it arrives in a BOX. They put each item (and we are talking about small items, one was a knife which came in its own huge box with a ton a bubble wrap around it) in a box, no matter how small the item, just so they could charge me an extra $3.50 per item. At the very least they could have combined items or given me the chance to tell them to combine items and saved the customer some money.
I have always loved Crate & Barrel and have shopped there (in the store) for years but I have to say that this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
