I recently used egghead online for the first time and the last time. I found a great auction on phot printers and in the ad it clearly stated choose from the external or internal, pictured here. Well I won the auction, had asked specifically for the external and received the internal. When I nicely pointed out their error I was essentially told that I could not read, would not get an external one and if I wanted to return it would be charged 15% to send it back, so much for their liberal return policies advertised on the webpage. Below is a step ny step email that follows what happened.

In the on line advertisement it stated internal or external just put note in comments. I asked spefically for the external and received the internal.If possible would like to exchange for the external otherwise will return.

Thank you for your inquiry. I cannot find anywhere on our web site where it states this. Also, I have checked with the vendor and they do not have the external version in stock. Furthermore, the external version is much more expensive. If you want to return this item for credit, you will be charged a 15restocking fee plus shipping.

Below you will find a copy of the auction and you can read the part where it says "choose from either the internal or external model." Please rectify this immediately. I will make sure never to shop egghead again if this is the way that customers are conned into buying things that are not properly presented to them.

I will no longer accept just sending it back. Your auction clearly states external or internal and I demmand the internal. If it is a different brand I do not care but I believe that the misrepresentation that goes on is illegal and immoral. I was not the only person in the auction that had I want the external in the notes and I really resent being conned and told lies. If you cannot supply the items that are in your auctions then you have no reason to be auctioning them off. I am a contractor for AT&T and buy a lot of computer and related equipment for my offices and will recommend to all that they not shop at egghead as they have deceptive practices.

Thank you for your inquiry. I have contacted the vendor and they will be contacting you to make arrangements to swap the printer for the external version. Please know that the sentence that you read was not meant to be taken literally, is what it was suggesting is that if you were interested in the external to bid on the external, which was offered on a different auction with a different SKU number.

If that is what was truly meant then why the hell is that not what it said. It clearly stated to choose from the external or internal one, pictured here. It never mentioned that there was anotheer auction featuring the external printers. If you are going to lie at least do it believably.

Am I being too literal to read the ad and assume that what is said in the ad is what is meant or do I have to take cryptography lessons so as to learn the lessons that Egghead is imparting on me. By the way I was not the only one that put in the comments section that the external ones were the ones we wanted so obviously I am not the only Egghead customer that was duped.
