Subscription Start Times
by mbogle, October 21, 2008

I am the Vice President of Operations at MagazineLine. We have relationships with hundreds of publishers to offer subscriptions to their magazines. When we receive an order, we forward it to the publisher with our payment within a week of receipt and they handle delivery of the magazine. Publishers print their address labels a few issues in advance and new orders start with the next unlabelled issue. The standard start time for monthly magazines is 6 - 10 weeks. Titles published more frequently usually start a few weeks faster and subscriptions with fewer than 12 issues per year take a few weeks longer. Although the delay before a magazine begins can be frustrating, our discounted rates versus paying newsstand price make it worth the wait. |

Beware, Magazineline is dishonest, I do not recommend doing business with them

I suggest not doing business with Magazineline - here is my experience:
Magazineline's order confirmation email said my subscription for the New Yorker wouldn't start until THREE MONTHS after my order was placed. I called Magazineline to confirm the delay and they said that the New Yorker was having processing problems and that it took 3 months for orders to arrive. I called the New Yorker subscription dept and they stated that the Magazineline order had already been entered into their system, however Magazineline entered a future start date of THREE MONTHS on the order. The New Yorker kindly honored the $29.95 price and gave me an entire new order that would start immediately on the next printing cycle. I called Magazineline again and asked about the 3 month delay and a different rep repeated the story about delays at the New Yorker. When I mentioned that Magazineline had future dated the order, the rep got a bit flustered and admitted that the order was future dated. Needless to say I canceled my order through Magazineline and will not do business with them in the future, as they are clearly dishonest. |

good company, nice, helpful reps

I ordered a subscription on this site and it did take a while to receive my subscription. When I called and talked to a rep (who was very nice btw), they informed me that the publisher was not processing their orders as fast as they should or normally do. They contacted the publisher for me and requested an "extension," meaning I'll get extra issues at the end of my subscription. I really appreciated the fact that they dealt with my problem and I didn't have to. I read the other reviews and wonder if the slow service is really Magazineline's fault, or in my case, the publisher's fault.

Terrible experience. Some of these other reviews must be fake or made up by the company, because my experience was nothing like that. I've been treated rudely, hung up on, lied to and downright scammed. I think this company is right up there with

When my magazine subscriptions are about to expire I often shop around online and, if I can, I make my purchases through point-giving websites. I went through Memolink
to renew my subscription to Smithsonian

I've ordered with this company many times and haven't had a problem. They always seem to have good prices. One time, I had to change my address and called their 1-800 number and I easily reached someone without having to wait. I always appreciate that!

Great service. They matched lower publisher offers I had and also let me cancel at any time. I got money back when I canceled even! The other titles I ordered arrived just fine and are still arriving in a timely manner.

This is a legitimate magazine company

This is one of the legitimate magazine services on the internet. I have been ripped off by other "discount subscriptions", you know who you are magsforless. This site doesn't make you pay until you receive the subscriptions which is nice. I have never contacted customer service so I don't know how they opperate. overall I was pleased with the product and i have and will use them again.

Typical great prices, and terrific customer service response

Absolutely wonderful customer service. I just ordered from MagazineLine, after finding them through a Google search, for the first time a few days ago. A day later, I realized I made a mistake in the magazine I ordered and had to call in to see if I could still cancel it. The first person was extremely friendly and said it was no problem. She apparently made a small system error in doing so and I received an order confirmation the next day, but when I called in again they were even more friendly, said what happened, and handled the cancellation quickly and easily.
So, didn't end up with a complete order in the end, but from the customer service I received alone on the phone, I'll very likely use them in the future and recommend them,. |

the absolute worst!!!!! UNprofessional service. do not use them

I ordered a magazine as a gift on 8/4/06. The kid still hasn't gotten the magazine. I have been emailing the CS dept. They've been UNPROFESSIONAL, untruthful and a little condescending. I am regretting that they have my credit card information. Atleast reading these other reviews gave me hope that the order will eventually be filled.

Great site with great service, reasonable prices.

They are legit, reasonably priced, and have a telephone number staffed with real people that will talk to you and take your order or any questions. I have been using this service since 2002 and they are great. Only a 2-4 missed issues out of 8 subscriptions in 4 years, and they even replaced 1 of those issues. However I did not get a replacement for the other 1-3 issues despite asking for it. They have a great website with your account and your subscriptions and ending dates accessible anytime. Not the best priced site, but they do give great service. Not a scam either, such as magsforless - too cheap to be true. I would recommend going to this site, and the best time to order is when they have special deals. Magazines could be had for like 30-40% less than their normal prices on the site.

Slow to process, but eventually the magazine eventually got to me within about 14 weeks. I would use someone else next time however.

It was easy to find what I was looking for on Magazineline, and they have great low prices too. I like the pictures of the magazines and the information about each one.

Magazineline has good prices and a great selection of popular magazines. They have a lot of great children's magazines and they list the ages they recommend for each title. This saved me a lot of time.
