I had a HORRIBLE shopping experience with eToys this Christmas!!! I placed a $750 online order in October. I was trying to be organized and get some Christmas gifts purchased early. I was charged $48 in shipping fees, which would have been fine if my merchandise had actually been delivered to my house! I learned from a very rude customer service rep of eToys that they had a standard shipping arrangement through Airborne Express & the US Post Office. The problem I had was that the idiots at eToys stuffed about 14 items into a box the size of a refrigerator to be shipped. Airborne Express picks these up, flys them to their destination and then drops them off at the local Post Office (don't ask me why that is!!!). Understandably, my postman is not able to fit the 4 boxes in my shipment into his little jeep that he delivers the mail in. Instead of my children's Christmas gifts being delivered to my home (for $48 in shipping fees), I received a little yellow note in my mailbox telling me to come to the post office with 3 days to claim my packages. I had to stand in line there and the woman behind said, "I hope you aren't the one with those great big boxes." Well - Yes I was! There I was with my 15 month old, wheeling out this huge yellow bin that belongs to the post office, folding down all the seats in my sport utility to cram that stuff in. I drive a Ford Excursion and I ended up having to make two trips to get it all!! Needless to say, I was angry. I complained to a customer service rep and asked that my shipping fees be refunded, he refused. I asked that a manager call me back and no one ever returned my call. Finally, I sent a written letter of complaint to eToys. Their response was that they emailed me a $10 gift certificate that is valid on my next purchase of $50 or more. No Thanks! Shopping online is very convenient, but not if the merchandise is never actually delivered.
