I have bought a lot of things at ebay and I have had a mixed experience.  Most of the time, I get exactly what I bid on and everything goes as expected.  Sometimes, I'll get a bad seller and it will be a bad experience.

I once ordered something that was supposed to be brand new only to receive a used beat up item instead.  I also have purchased several ancient gold coins on ebay, only to have them appraised by a professional.  Approximately half of them were counterfeits (real gold, but fakes), but I got a refund in all cases (except did not get my shipping costs back in one transaction).  So when shopping on ebay, it all comes down to the sellers.

I have found the shipping time to vary as well, again, depending on the seller.  I have had items arrive within a couple days and most have arrived within two weeks, but there have been some items that took over a month.

One of the worst things about ebay is that they do not have a phone number to contact them--everything must be done via email.  For a huge site like this, that just shows poor concern for their customers.

Overall, my shopping experience with ebay has been acceptable with some reservations, especially concerning the high amount of fake products being sold and the inability to talk to a live person on the phone when necessary.
