I've been involved with eBay for over five years now and have been satisfied with everything overall.
One of the things that can make eBay difficult is that essentially the company is a middle man. However, they've done a remarkable job of filtering out dishonest sellers. There are still a few that slip through the cracks, but the cautious eBayer won't get scammed or cheated if they are careful.
eBay has allowed me to get rid of many unwanted items in my house. I used to throw many things away, but now I list them on eBay. I am carefully to set the price low and am charged only $0.15 per listing so if things don't sell it isn't a big loss. I also looks for deals at brick and mortar stores and resell products on eBay for a profit.
eBay isn't perfect of course. One of the things that I've seen over the past few years is that the final value fees have continued to rise. The percentage used to be fairly low, but over the last two years it's almost doubled. Some of the listing fees have gone down, but profits have been cut into by the high final value fees.
