I received an e-mail offer from Buy.com for a Garmin NuVi 255W GPS unit for $115 with free shipping. I was sitting at my computer when the offer came in,so I IMMEDIATELY followed the link only to find they were "out of stock." Three days later, I receive an e-mail saying they unit are in stock BUT NOW COST $129.99. I called and discussed this with two different representatives, (probably in India). All they could do was tell me I could buy the unit for $129.99 each. I think they never intended to sell these units for $115. In my opinion, this is deliberate dishonest marketing. BEWARE !

I've been buying from this company for years no problem. But my last two purchases have turned me off for good. The first time I ordered the item because of free shipping, then I noticed I got charged for shipping even though I picked free shipping. Customer service refunded the shipping and convinced me that I really had not picked free shipping.

Like an idiot I placed another order yesterday, being extra careful to pick free shipping and note the total price. They STILL included the shipping in the amount they deducted from my Paypal account.

The free shipping is a scam.

I joined epinions because I wanted to let everyone know how bad buy.com was.  I placed my order 3 days ago on an item that stated 1-2 days for shipping.  I still have not received notification of shipment.  Apparently, like others have said, 1-2 days shipping means 1-2 days shipping from whenever they feel like actually shipping it.  I needed this item within the week for a work project and now I will have to go order another one from a better etailer or my local Best Buy.  I order items online all the time and shipping is usually honestly stated.  Even my orders on Ebay ship faster then buy.com. 

BUY.COM SUCKS!

For some time I had been looking into buying either a Nikon D200 or D300 online. Just this past August I was very excited to purchase a Nikon D200 kit from under $449 from one of your vendors, Focus Camera. I patiently read all of the site reviews and I even called Buy.Com Customer Service to verify that I was purchasing the right product. Customer Service indeed informed me that I am purchasing a new Nikon D200 kit with a Full USA Warranty. Ten days later after my package arrived boy was I surprised, I received an electronic Dutch-English Dictionary. I have now returned the Dictionary for a full refund to Focus Camera.  For obvious reasons I am very unhappy with Buy.com.

They sell defective merchandise at a bargain, and if you don't discover the defect within 30 days (and notify them) you have no return rights and no refund nor store credit.  I am disappointed Google's brand and recommendation is affixed online: disgusting.  We are judged by the company we keep.  I purchased a Memorex 250 GB USB hard drive and found it would not accept more than 4 GB of data.  Every Backup & Restore program failed to write beyond the 4 GB.  Later when I had time, and a new compputer to test the Memorex and/or fix it, all the test apps read out the same: an I/O problem limiting the drive to 4 GB out of the 250 available (despite all attempts to correct, checkdisk, etc.)

I tried to buy something at buy.com. I used my paypal account but they would not ship to my summer home because I did not have a credit card with that adress on it. So I ordered with my credit card. When I did not get my shipment, I went back to buy.com and discovered that it had not shipped, they needed confirmation. In order to discuss this with customer service, I had to click a link to my home phone number, but I wasn't there. I sent 4 emails asking for a customer service number I could contact to explain the problem, but I kept getting the same from letter to click the link (It took 2 days per letter for them to respond). I appriciate they are trying to protect me BUT, THEY HAVE NO WAY TO CALL THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTLY TO SETTLE PROBLEMS. I finally gave up and cancled my order, and bought my product elsewhere. Then I had to contact buy.com's shipper directly to canncel the order (which they never recieved). Fortunately, they had a customer service department that responded immediately.

Deceptive Practices

I was charged $12 per month via Shoppers Discount, which was initiated when I clicked on a link on the Buy.com website. I did not receive notice that I was purchasing anything. I also didn't get anything for my money. When I complained, a rep from Buy stated that by clicking on the link, I authorized the charge from my credit card. I feel Buy.com practices deceptive sales tactics. Make sure you check your credit card bill and don't purchase through their website. You might save now, but you'll pay later.

I PURCHASE A CAMERA FROM BUY.COM ON 6/30. THEY MADE ME USE EBILLME, GOT PAID AND NEVER SENT MY ITEM OR GAVE ME ANY INFORMATION ABOUT IT. ONLY AFTER I PESTERED THEM OVER THE PHONE DID THEY GIVE SOME INFO. THEY HAVE MY MONEY AND I HAVE NO MERCHANDISE. THEY SAY IT IS BEING SHIPPED. ON THE SITE THEY SAY SHIPS WITHIN 1-2 DAYS.
WHEN I ORDER SOMETHING ONLINE, IT IS BECAUSE I BELIEVE ON THE SERVICE BEING OFFERED. THEY SEEMED TO BE GOOD AT THEIR WORD, BUT I FOUND OUT IT WAS NOT THE HARD WAY. HERE I AM READY TO GO ON VACATION AND NO CAMERA TO USE, THANSK TO BUY.COM AND THEIR HORRIBLE SERVICE.

Ten days after placing my order and not receiving it or tracking information I looked to see how I could find out the status of the order.  I found that the only means of communication is through email......lame!  The email response was quick and informed me that the item was on backorder with no estimated delivery date, and that I could follow the links to cancel my order.  I tried that but the links wouldn't get me to an invoice that would allow the cancellation. I have never ordered from a company with such horrible customer service. The lack of communication and ability to contact anyone is extremely unprofessional.  I will never order from this website again.

I ordered a multi-function fax/printer from buy.com.  After a few days, I noticed that my order had not shipped.  I called and asked why and they stated the phone number given did not match that on record with my credit card.  I confirmed with my credit card that it was indeed verified (which I knew from years of usage), and buy.com rejected the order yet again.

Their obvious ineptitude should have led me to cancel the order, but being a glutton for punishment, I gave them the secondary phone number on my credit card account but told buy.com to contact me only on the first.  After more inquiries on the status of my order (they never contacted me, I was always left chasing them), they stated that it was approved and they had left me instructions for the order to proceed (what else did they need?) - as a message on the secondary phone number.

Heed my advice:  order from newegg.com and save yourself much grief.

I ordered a white blender - the one Pictured on the website. I got a RED one twice!! Unacceptable! NO WHERE in the ordering steps was there any indication of a color choice. I was assured the replacement order would be the correct color. You can't CALL them. You can ask them to call you if you think it's urgent, but don't hold your breath. That is sub par customer service.

Worst Experience ever. I had ordered a Camera for second day shipping. It has been 2 weeks and they still haven't shipped it. They escalated my ticket and no one ever got back to me. I finally found the number and called and they escalated my ticket again. I will never buy anything again from here. I would rather have it from ebay.com even half of them might be scam. Atleast I will have the satisfaction that I got scammed from something I already I knew I might get rather than bein scammed by a reputed website.

Slow, too slow, but fast to bill your credit card!

Slow TOO slow for an online business of all things, but they charge your credit card right at the minute of order - go figure?  The other scam is that you can't cancel an order after 15 minutes of placing the order.  Any other online merchant, like Amazon, etc.  I am able to cancel the order up to shipping.

Place an order two days before and when you check it online it is STILL processing?  I've got much better service from other online merchants and will just keep patronizing those businesses.

If you don't care WHEN you get to see your order, go ahead and order from these folks; if however you, like me, think that an order should be processed in a reasonable amount of time then buy.com is NOT the online merchant for you.

Although buy.com does have good deals and a nice browsing interface, I have had problems with faulty merchandise and credit scams [see shopperdiscountsandrewards.com + scam on google]. Admittedly, most of this is relatively minor, it is still enough motivation for me to not shop there again. I'd prefer to shop somewhere else where I feel the website is willing to help the customer, rather than make money by exploiting them.

Stay away from buy.com. Last November a product I received from them was defective on arrival. Their policy was that they would refund the full purchase price for defective items along with shipping costs. They failed to honor this. They have not responded to any of my emails on this and they do not list a customer service number phone call.

I have ordered numerous products from BUY.COM with great satisfaction and this is the first time I've ever had a problem. I've ordered external drives, backpacks, notebooks, etc.
This time I ordered two Magellan Model 3200 GPS units.  They arrived within the promised time. But, when I tried to register them with Magellan to get the map upgrade within 30 days, the serial numbers were rejected.
A call to Magellan reveals the two units are in fact Model 3200C, the C meaning China. They were re-purposed from the Bejing Olympics by loading the USA version 2.9 map.  A representative at Magellan proposed that this might be illegal--but, that others have been successful in getting the units replaced with comparable or better.
Customer service has responded with an offer to return both units, pre-paid shipping, and refund the purchase. It took 2 days of back and forth email and the support people were putting their attention on fixing the problem--so far, so good.

I just bought a travel battery charger from buy.com for my iphone, and it doesn't work, in fact it looks more like it's draining the battery. But from reading the strict return policy I don't think that it will even be worth the trouble for the $10 that it cost, especially that if the returned product doesn't match all applicable criteria the product will be "returned back to you at your cost". Of course, they also have the 15% restocking fee.

Buy.com is a rip off.  I feel like I just flushed money down the toilet (in the words of someone else's online review at another website). The one item (out of two) that I actually received is of the cheapest quality for top dollar.  I could have bought the same item in the store for 60-75% less! 

Avoid ANTOnline as well, some company that works with Buy.com. 

Once you order from these companies it's yours, whether you want the item or not.  There is no way to cancel any order.  I ordered something online and within the hour tried to cancel and called the company and left a message (weekend) and called first thing Monday morning.  I was told ALL ITEMS are shipped within 5 (five) minutes of ordering.

Terrible company to deal with.  First, if you are not careful you will be added to the suckers being ripped off by Shoppers Doscounts for 12 bucks a month.  So carefully check your credit card receipts if you have ever purchased from buy.com.  They signed me up even though I did NOT OK it.  Second, they have rebates that are a scam.  My rebate was denied because I didn't include a copy of the invoice.  The packing slip was not enough even though it had my address, the item's serial number that agreed with the UPC.  Buy.com had no invoice online for this item LOL .. so they needed something that wasn't available for the rebate to be processed.  Third, should you ever need their customer service, you will get an email from them from a noreply address.  How is that for service?

Although Buy.com has very competitive prices, their marketing practices are nothing short of a scam. Many shoppers base their decision on purchasing certain products, like electronics, on client reviews. But who wants to purchase an item with a load of poor reviews? Not many, of course. So, to push their product, defective right from the factory or not, Buy.com filters out all the negative reviews to keep a strong and positive review base of even the worst products. I suggest if you have to purchase an item from Buy.com, visit other review websites to get the true buyer's opinion on that item. Buy.com has discarded a few of my negative reviews for products that constantly failed on me.

poor customer relations

I have shopped at Buy.com for years.  I guess I was fortunate that I didn’t have to return anything before.  Last week, I bought a product that didn’t work out of the box.  It took awhile to figure out there’s no phone number to call at Buy.com.  Through e-mail, I found out that I had to arrange the return through an affiliate that shipped the product.  The affiliate (which did have a phone number) was happy to refund my money or replace the defective product, but I have to pay for shipping it back.  It doesn’t seem right to me that I have to pay to ship a defective product back to the seller.  The affiliate cited a written policy on the Buy.com website.  The policy I saw on the website link suggests that Buy.com will reimburse for the buyer’s shipping costs if the product is found to be defective.  First of all, I think buyers should not be at risk for shipping costs when the product is defective.  Secondly, I think that Buy.com should adhere to its stated policy.  This has poisoned a long-standing relationship with Buy.com

I ordered an Acer 19" widescreen computer monitor. It was the lowest price I could find on the web.

The package, shipped free, arrived THE FOLLOWING DAY!!!.

I was pleasantly astounded.  It was well packaged in the factory box and in good working order. Great bang for the buck!

This is the second purchase I made at Buy.com, the first being equally satisfying.

Based on my experiences, I would highly recommend Buy.com.

I saw their listing in Deals2Buy for a printer server and it says there is free shipping. I went to Buy.com's web site and it says free shipping until I got to the last step to place order and all of a sudden there is a $5 shipping and handling charge. I sent them an e-mail asking them why and they sent me the official free shipping policy link. According to the link, the item I was ordering should have qualified for free shipping because it has the green/yellow truck icon. This is the third time I have had bad experience with this outfit and I will never buy from them again. They always list the lowest price but they are not honest.
