Avoid Wayside: they substitute stock, poor customer service, credits take too long. UGH!!

I paid extra for 2-day delivery. Eight days after I ordered I rec'd an email saying the orange flowering bulbs I ordered were not in stock, and they would send yellow instead. I emailed immediately to cancel the order, but was told that it was too late to stop the order as it had already been shipped, but "to simply reject the order on arrival and a full refund will be issued." I later found that at the time I tried to cancel the unwanted bulbs, the order had not yet been processed, and wouldn't be for another three days. At this point I was annoyed that I had paid extra for 2 day shipping to a company that takes nearly two weeks to pull an order from the shelves and even begin shipping, and annoyed that I couldn't cancel an order that hadn't been put together yet, and that the customer service person told me that it HAD been shipped when their own records indicated that it had not been. So, I waited another week for it to arrive, but there was no way to "simply reject" the package. I had to make a special trip to a FED Ex office and resend the package. I made very clear in several emails that I wanted a refund to my credit card. The FED Ex tracking indicated the package arrived at Wayside on Dec 4. On Dec 20 I got a post card saying they were giving me a merchandise credit. Was this some kind of sick joke??? No. I had to email yet again and ask for a credit to my credit card. They emailed me on Dec 27 saying that a credit had been posted to my account on Dec 7. Later, I checked my credit card account, and the credit had been posted, but not until more than two weeks after they claimed to have processed the credit. What can I say about a company that is slow, substitutes stock without consent, and is a pain in the neck to get a credit from? This whole fiasco took about six weeks to resolve. I surely wouldn't shop with them again, and I would recommend that others shop elsewhere.
