Updated
I have had Walmart DVD Rental for about 2 months now. I really like their service, selection, and policies.
I have had only one DVD that was scratched or unplayable, but have had 4 that ended up damaged when they were returned to the warehouse. (With NO CHARGE)
They sent me the next DVD off of my list, and they were very apologetic.
I decided to upgrade to the 4 DVD Rental Program which is $21.94. I may switch back down to 3, because that is a lot of movies a month.
As for the Return policy, they will send the next DVD as soon as my returned DVD starts to be tracked in the Postal System. So if I ship my DVD on Monday, I usually get another on Wednesday or Thursday. Pretty good turnover if you ask me.
I hope you find this update helpful!
End of Update
I purchased this DVD Rental Program at Walmart.com, so thought this might be the best place to post.
So, I think that we should forget Netflix and try Wal-mart DVD Rental!
Now I know what you are thinking, Wal-mart?!?!?
I was opposed to it at first as well. I think Wal-mart is killing America, and polluting the minds of our children, but, I think they are an inevitable evil. :)
I was almost convinced to join Netflix because of the 2 week free trial, but I had a friend who joined who had a really bad experience. Well, when I was looking into it, I ran across a Wal-mart DVD Rental service. At first I was horrified at the thought of supporting the "Evil Empire", as I lovingly refer to it, but Wal-mart does know how to run a company. On further investigation, I found that they charge Three basic fees:
$15.54 a month you get 2 movies out at a time, Unlimited # a month.
$18.76 a month you get 3 movies out at a time, Unlimited # a month.
$21.94 a month you get 4 movies out at a time, Unlimited # a month.
Significantly cheaper than Netflix in the long run. (After the free trial, I am considering joining the 4 movie plan. -You can switch memberships or cancel at any time)
AND, with the $15.54 subscription, you get a 30 day free trial(with credit card) (twice Netflix's offer). Well, I decided what the heck, let's try it.
I ordered late Monday night, the 13th, and my top two selections were shipped out the 14th, and received at my house on the 16th. They arrived in Two days, just like they said they would.
Here is something else that I am impressed by, they say that they offer over 13,000 titles. When I put in my list some brand new releases, they were sent right away. I put The Matrix Reloaded in my list and it was just released on Tuesday, and it is available NOW. 60% of the movies in my list are less than a month old, and they are ALL available NOW. (Something Netflix cannot offer, 1-2 month long waits on some New Releases) -per my friend's experience.
Another thing that I am impressed with is the shipping. Of course it is free both ways, and something that is different than Netflix and other DVD rental services, is that Wal-mart has a deal with the USPS so as soon as a DVD begins to be tracked in the system, Wal-mart will send you the next DVD on your list. (Granted I have not seen this happen, but this is what they say on their website. I will update to tell if this actually happens.)
I am hoping that Wal-mart will not get so big, that their service starts to suck like Netflix. Anyway, I definitely recommend trying it out.
Hope you find this helpful!
