Although my shopping online has slowed down over the last several months, I still have found a site that I think will become a favorite of mine. I like the layout of the online store and of course the products. The shipping was okay and delivery was on time as promised.

The Online Store

When you first come onto www.walgreens.com you will find a homepage done mostly in blues and black on a white background. Across the top you will find links to: Home, Pharmacy, Store Online, Health Library, Our Company, Your Account, Login and Help. You will also find a “Store Locator” which is always helpful when traveling and you think you may need a Wal Greens store. And of course, checkout, contact neighborhood specials and customize your links.

You will also find a link that will take you to a “Health Library.” Now this link will take you to a whole new world! Here you can learn all about different medical needs, nutrition, surgeries, children’s health and various other medical concerns. I really enjoyed this page a lot because of recent health problems I was able to find more about them under this link. Especially the “Diabetes and You” link.

Back at the homepage you will find in the direct middle of the page various items on sale. From time to time you will find “online coupons” for different items that you can use at checkout time. They also offer a direct link to online specials in which you will find different specials for the day, week or month. So be sure to look there before you buy, you may find a coupon for something you need!

Registering is easy and you can have your information saved for use later on. Easy sign in procedures too! Your credit card information is from a safe environment, which allows you to shop with ease.

While shopping at www.walgreens.com you can choose from: Baby, Beauty, Camera/Film, Electronics, Food, Health, Household, Personal, School/Office, and Vitamins/Nutrition. And each link will take you to that part of the store where you can shop till you drop! The prices are listed clearly and all items are easy to add to your cart.

You can also check out all their “Free After Mail Rebate Offers” which is really cool. These items do change so you will have to jump on them quickly if you’re interested. You can also compare and save, which is a great feature.

I was looking for some things for my household, and thus clicked the household link. I was really surprised to find a whole bunch of other links that gave me a lot of options! For instance, there was cleaning supplies to choose from, paper and plastic items, hardware and auto, pesticides, pet needs, home accessories, kitchen and toys. I did not expect to find all of these items. The online store is set up similar to their actual store, which makes shopping a lot better. If you click the “Shop” link you are taken to a page that has a great lay out with easy to see and click links for all the available items in their online store.

www.walgreens.com also has links on the left hand side of the page that allows you to search for a brand name item. For instance, I was looking at coffee filters and noticed the links and found that I could shop for Kitchen Gourmet, Walgreen’s or Show All. Clicking on the Show All brought me to a choice of 3 coffee filters. The prices were clearly marked and easy to add to my cart.

And don’t forget about clicking “Online Specials” because here you will find a list of all the items you can purchase that are on sale through the website. You will find this list categorized by department, then you are told how many items are on sale, you then click the link of interest and you will be taken down the page to see all the items. Really cool!

Shipping

The charge for shipping most orders weighing 10 pounds or less to the 48 contiguous states is $5.49. Portions of your order that qualify for free shipping or have flat shipping fees are not included when calculating the weight of your order. You'll find each item's weight on its details page.

Shipping outside of the 48 contiguous states (Please note that this section is taken from the website and as you can see there are a lot of choice that should suit all shipping needs. I decided to post them all because of the various types available in case there are those outside of the 48 contiguous states that are interested in shopping at www.walgreens.com).

The charge for shipping most orders weighing 10 pounds or less outside of the 48 contiguous states is $19.99. The charge for shipping orders weighing more than 10 pounds is $19.99 for the first 10 pounds, plus $1.99 for each additional pound. Free shipping offers and flat shipping fees do not apply to orders shipping outside of the 48 contiguous United States. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) prohibits air shipment of items that could present a hazard during transportation. Since orders shipping outside of the 48 contiguous states are sent by air only, DOT-restricted items cannot be shipped to those areas. If you attempt to have restricted items outside of the 48 contiguous states, you will be notified about the restrictions at checkout. DOT-restricted items include but are not limited to flammable substances and products in pressurized containers.

Flat shipping fee items

Some items have individual flat shipping fees, which will be charged in place of standard shipping fees when these items are shipped to the 48 contiguous states. If these fees apply, you'll find them listed on each item's detail page (e.g., "Flat shipping fee: $45."). Shipping for other items in the same order will be calculated according to standard rates. Flat shipping fees do not apply to orders shipping outside of the 48 contiguous United States. Items marked with the green Ships for FREE truck automatically receive free shipping to the 48 contiguous states. Free shipping does not extend to other items in your order, and does not apply to orders shipping outside of the 48 contiguous United States.

FREE shipping eligible

Items marked as FREE shipping eligible ship for free to the 48 contiguous states when the subtotal of eligible items in your cart reaches $50 or more. If the subtotal of your eligible items is less than $50, then the regular fee of $5.49 applies. Eligible items include those marked FREE shipping eligible and those marked Ships for FREE. Free shipping does not extend to other items in your order, and does not apply to orders shipping outside of the contiguous United States.

You will not be charged the basic shipping fee twice in one order. If you do not order enough eligible items to qualify for free shipping, but you also have ineligible items in your cart, you will only be charged the shipping fees for the ineligible items.

Products that do not count toward the $50 FREE shipping eligible minimum: Products with individual flat shipping fees: Contact lenses, Pharmacy items, and Photo Center items (prints, photo gifts, etc.)

Shipping charges by weight

For items and orders that are shipping to the 48 contiguous states, weigh more than 10 pounds, and do not qualify for any free shipping offer or flat shipping fees, shipping charges will be calculated at $5.49 for the first 10 pounds, plus $0.49 for each additional pound. Portions of your order that qualify for free shipping offers or have flat shipping fees will not be included when calculating the weight of your order. You'll find each item's weight on its details page.

For orders that are shipping outside of the contiguous United States and weigh more than 10 pounds, shipping charges will be calculated at $19.99 for the first 10 pounds, plus $1.99 for each additional pound. All items will be included when calculating the weight of your order.

How I Feel

I liked this online store a lot! I was able to get around quickly and with no load problems. They had what I was looking for and I was able to have it shipped to my home with no problems and right on time.

Since recently being diagnosed a diabetic I particularly found that section very helpful to me in what to eat and what to do and how to take better care of myself.

Overall though Wal Greens online is a wonderful experience. It’s another place that one can go and spend a lot of time looking around and not buying a thing! You can even refill your prescriptions online and that for some is a lifesaver I think. You can even get your photos put online and access them anytime.
