Knowing that a particular product was sold at Walgreens we went online to make a purchase from their web-site. The product, a specialized electric green bulb, was easy enough to find. On the pages you are given the price per unit, along with what the shipping charges are going to be. When you have added everything to the cart that you desire, you can proceed to the check-out screen and complete your order.

The Walgreens web-site seems to primarily specialize in items that you would most commonly find in a drugstore. You have a wide selection of health care items, personal items, household items, and beauty items to choose from, along with a variety of things that you would use at home. It’s hard to say what they actually specialize in selling because it isn’t set in stone, but if you have ever been in a Walgreen’s store then you know exactly what you are getting online.

When you are ready to checkout, you are also given a price associated with your shipping charges, and a link to explanations if you so wish to read about them. For this purchase, it fell under the flat fee of $5.49 that they assess on any orders that weigh less than 10 pounds total. On heavier orders, they calculate the charge at 49 cents for each additional pound. You can find the weights listed on the product descriptions to determine for yourself just how heavy a shipment might end up being. There are also instances where you can receive free shipping when a little green truck is pictured next to your product. This guarantees you free shipping of the order. In other instances they will give you free shipping when you pass $50.00 on select items.

We paid with a VISA, and the total shipping charge on our small $10.00 order was $5.49. Figuring in the tax, they charged us a total of $16.83 on the order. For something so small, that is a lot to pay for shipping, and it seems almost like a deterrent to order smaller or cheaper items from the Walgreen’s site. I guess if you are coming back again and again though, it helps to know that you have a flat fee that it’s going to cost you. For this consumer though, $5.49 on a $10 purchase is a little too high.

The shipping advertises that it will take 3 to 5 days to get to its destination, and we received our package a short 3 business days after the purchase. With it came a nice detailed invoice about the purchase, with a return sticker just in case we were not satisfied. The bulbs arrived in pristine condition though, and ended on a happy note with my experience dealing with Walgreen’s online. Though shipping seems expensive and it seems like a niche product web-site, I have a good overall opinion of the site due to its ease of purchase and reliable shipping.
