2 weeks, still sitting in their warehouse!
by eddiethedog, July 30, 2007
|

|
Vita cost promises 24 hour delivery, they charged my credit card right away, but after two weeks, still no delivery! I called, and it is sitting in the warehouse...no apology,no explanation, no e-mail informing me of a warehouse backup. This was a $100. order that they charged to my card immediately, and also e-mailed me that it had been processed, so I wait for two weeks for nothing! They said that the warehouse is backed up! She informed me, with attitude mind you, that she will call her manager and have my order released and I'll have it in seven days,gee, THANKS! Wow, a whole new twist to service, allowing my order to BE RELEASED! No offer of discount or free shipping, just BAD customer service! My husband orders his vitamins from Puritan's and always receives his order promptly! Never again, there are too many good companies out there to put up with service like this, absolutely no excuse, say no to Vita cost at all cost!

red flags on NSI products (Vitacost)
by jimm48, July 10, 2007
|
|||||||
|
Many red flags were raised in my experience with NSI products. I understand Vitacost and NSI are connected (or NSI is Vitacost's own brand). NSI had conflicting online information for its Cod Liver Oil stating totally different amts. of DHA in its product. Then when buying the NSI curcumin (turmeric) caps, I noticed that a picture of the bottle said 1160 mg and the description said 1160 mg per serving. It was only thru further reading that I found out that a "serving" was 2 caps. Since when can they advertise their caps as a certain amt. of mg, and then you find in the small print that they mean in 2 capsules??

Scammed on shipping - beware!!!
by apedley, July 5, 2007
|
|||||||
|
My first time shopping at VitaCost, they quoted me $7.55 in shipping at the final "pay" page, and then my e-mail confirmation listed a whopping $15.09 for shipping three very small items. When I called to complain, they said that UPS charged more because of the weight. No where on their website does it warn customers that shipping might be substantially more than quoted because of weight, and it's hard to believe that's really the case given the size of my items (which I haven't even received yet, after 6 days). I would avoid this company at all costs. I shop on-line all the time and have never experienced such a scam.

Great selection of Garden of Life, New Chapter, Jason Naturals and other excellent brands of vitamins and skin products I use. I estimate I am saving about $2,000 per year versus buying at Whole Foods and other local retail stores. My packages arrive very quickly in just a few days and the orders are 100% complete and packaged very well. I also like the fact Vitacost.com offers a money back guarantee.

WHAT A GREAT ORDERING EXPERIENCE

What a great experience it was to order from Vitacost.
A friend had told me about it when I told him I was looking at refilling my vitamins. So I went and looked through his catalog he got in the mail, and then called in my order. The ordering process was exceptionally easy. I was on the phone for maybe 5 minutes. Just 3 days later, I had my package at my door. From start to finish , it was a great experience. |

I have been buying vits from vitacost for over 2 yrs now and was always pleased w/shipping speed and customer service but I will NOT be doing business w/them anymore after my last transaction. I was sent damaged goods (not damaged in shipping as the box containing the goods was undamaged). I indicated that I wanted an exchange not a refund. I sent the box back through the PO and called vitacost to make sure my shipping costs would be refunded and I learned that I would be getting a refund NOT an exchange. If I wanted an exchange I would have to purchase another box along w/shipping costs and the box minus shipping would be refunded when they received the damaged box I was returning???!!!!! Sleazy does not begin to describe this company! I think I will be visiting the better business bureau site too! Do Not Buy from Vitacost!!!!

Awesome selection, price and service.

Excellent selection of the best quality vitamins, herbs and organic foods I buy at 50% less cost than Whole Foods, GNC and other stores. These brands include New Chapter, Twinlab, Nature's Way, Nordic Naturals and others. I also like the fact they have multiple warehouses and ship the same day, standard ground arrives in 1 - 3 days and anysize order is only $4.99 shipping cost. Check out their NSI brand formulated by medical doctors, far superior formulations for a lot better value when compared to national brands. The company is the largest online retailer of vitamins and natural health products and an INC 500 Hall of Fame company, based on their great selection, prices and service, I understand why.

unethical business practices
by mlgm, April 9, 2007

|
I too had the bad experience described by other Vitacost shoppers.
When I was checking out I was told that my order qualified for free shipping and that I could get more details by clicking on a side link. It turned out that eventhough I only read the "offer" but didn't take it, I was signed up for an automatic deduction of $14.95 per month on my credit card. Vitacost prices are very appealing but given their unethical business practices I won't shop there again. |

Cheated us by sending a bar of soap instead of our shark cartilage; disgusting!
by jan888x, March 26, 2007
|

Utterly disgusted. We ordered a jar of shark cartilage at $16.38, a great price. But when the order arrived, we discovered the box contained, with the invoice that confirmed we had ordered shark cartilage, nothing but a cheap, junky bar of "Bee & Flower Sandalwood Soap". Either this company is a pack of cheats, or they have the world's worst quality control. Either way, they stink!

Excellent company with great prices that can't be beat.
On one occasion I had a problem with a product (flaxseed oil which was spoiled.) I called customer service, they paid for the return postage and credited my account right away. They frequently offer online coupons of 5% on their already highly discounted nutritional products. I have been doing business with them for over 5 years and will continue to do so. |

Deceptive Discount and free shipping offers
by nickt1y, February 5, 2007

I am a long time customer and they are in danger of losing my business!
What the **** are they doing shilling for these ripoff companies. Deceptive Free Shipping and $10 Discount coupons Do they really need the kickbacks from these sleazy companies. If they were the ethical company I thought they were they would just raise their prices. I am really mad because I fell for the $10 Discount when I checked out, now thanks to my stupidity and their lack of ethics, these dirtbags can now start charging my credit card (which I trusted to VITACOST) since VITACOST will give them my card info. I hope They fire the sleazy person responsible for this. I promise you that when I place my next order if I see this kind of crap or it shows up in a confirmation email They will lose me as a customer. |

Terrible Customer Service - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH Vitacost.com
by kiwi_man, December 15, 2006
|
|||||||
|
I placed a $350 order with Vitacost.com. After 10 days I checked my order status online and saw that it had not been shipped. I rang Vitacost but the customer service person said that she could not help me and that I should phone at another time. I emailed customer service and got a reply saying that I needed to provide some verification details before the order could be shipped. This I did. Still, the order was not shipped. I got an email asking me to phone customer service to enable "release" of my order. I phoned customer service and was told that I should phone at another time.
After reading some of the reviews on this page, I became very uneasy about Vitacost.com having my credit card details. Their customer service is terrible and they have a bad reputation as being a shady and unreliable business. Save yourself money and frustration, shop with Amazon. |

No Credit Given for Returned Merchandise
by epinemm, December 1, 2006
|
|||||
|
On 20 June 2006 I placed order with vitacost.com. When I received the order, I immediately contacted them informing them they had sent the wrong merchandise. I ordered Atkins Morning Start Bars, but I received Atkins Advantage Morning Bars which contain an ingredient to which I am allergic. I returned the unwanted items to the company, 11 boxes @ $4.31 each = $47.44. I called customer service several times inquiring about the credit that vitacost owed me. They saw on my account that I was due a credit. I was assured that I would receive credit. To date, 1 Dec 2006, vitacost.com has not yet credited my charge card for the returned merchandise.
I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Do not risk the aggravation, do not shop vitacost.com. |

Good prices, decent products, INSECURE billing
by ccorax_1, November 13, 2006

I liked the prices, shipping was good, and the products appear to be of good quality. However, Vitacost shares your financial information with partner vendors. Be warned to check your financial statements VERY carefully for reoccuring monthly charges for coupon services, etc. My experience is not unique. A friend of mine also orders from Vitacost and had the same experience.
I have emailed Vitacost, and the owners at NSI and have so far been ignored. I have not yet mailed my complaint to my states attorney generals office for internet fraud. |

Residing in the UK I purchased from...
by vitacost.com Shopper, September 25, 2006
|
|||
|
Residing in the UK I purchased from VitaCost because the products are much cheaper than in the UK. However, the cost was brought almost in line with UK cost because of charges imposed by UK Customs and Excise, i.e. Import Duty and an extra charge for the priviledge of having the goods released from C&E!
Shopping from the website was easy and in spite of our C&E hassle I would consider ordering again at the appropriate time.

Vitacost's own brand (NSI) a BIG disappointment
by patmcmanus, August 26, 2006
|

|
I have been ordering for several years from Vitacost. Until recently, I had only ordered brands with which I was familiar such as TwinLabs, Enzymatic Therapy, and Source Naturals. I decided to try Vitacost's own brand, Nutraceutical Sciences Institute, also known as NSI, and ordered NSI brand SAM-e.
I had previously been using SAM-e from NatureMade. I found the NSI SAM-e did not measure up. Firstly, it tasted unpleasant going down. At first I chalked this up to natural variations in formulations. Secondly, it did not have the same beneficial effects on joint pain and mood. It took longer than 30 days to discover that the product was not working so I was outside the 30 day unconditional money-back guarantee. Several letters to Vitacost regarding a possible quality problem with their product went unaswered. I have switched back to NatureMade and will never order NSI brand SAM-e again. In fact, I doubt I would ever again order any NSI brands. |

The Vitacost.com web site shows that my order was sent and my credit card has been charged, yet I have received nothing!!!
I ordered items and two weeks later I had to call only to find out that they could did not ship anything. Customer service was non-existent and extremely rude! They had no idea why nothing was sent. They told me that TWO? emails had been sent but could not tell me what those emails said. I never received these emails. Based on this order, I will never purchase anything from Vitacost.com again. I would strongly recommend that you also avoid Vitacost.com. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and they are investigating the erroneous charge. |

Extremely low cost and bullet fast delivery
by snoopy2046, August 14, 2006

It has probably the lowest price and the shipping cost. The items were packed in less than 24 hours as promised. International delivery (UPS world wide express) takes only 3 days (ordered Friday and received Monday) to ship from Florida, USA to Hong Kong. The shipping cost is only about 20% of the products purchased. I am very impressed and will most likely buy again.

Sluggish customer service, incorrect shipping, charged extra for their mistake
by bardodave, March 20, 2006
|
|||||||
|
Before using these folks, check out the better business bureau website, chose Florida, and look at their record.
First these guys ship me an incorrect bottle in my order, they don't answer my email, then they send me a customer satisfaction survey wherein I tell them the problem again. Then they reply to that second email claiming they never received the first email. By now almost two weeks have elapsed. Their guarantee states all email will be answered in 24 hours. Next, they insist on charging me extra for the incorrect item because I opened it after 2 weeks of no customer service. Their guarantee states that one item per order may be returned open. If they would spend the time on customer service that they spend manufacturing a dubious rating on epinions, we would all be happier. |
