Had no real problems. Two back-ordered items caused my shipping to be delayed 3-4 days. I was notified the very next day, so I cancelled them to get my order out faster. It definitely wasn't 24 hour shipping. I was told about the delay on a Tuesday, but the order didn't leave the warehouse until the following Friday afternoon. When shipped, order arrived Tuesday, UPS. Customer service was adequate, but slow to respond. The notification e-mails were a little unclear; some things showed as "not shipped" were actually in my box. One box didn't have any packing material and two did. Everything traveled pretty well, my "Popchips" seems to be a liitle flat, but I expect that because there really is nothing you can do to prevent really delicate chips from crumbling a little.
After reading some online reviews, I was very skeptical about Vitacost, but everything was basically fine and I will probably reorder. They have a great selection of natural foods. They just need to get a more updated system in place. |

Notified me quickly that an item was out-of-stock and explained when it would be ordered, shipped and that there was no additional shipping fee for the delay. Reputable company!

Vitacost is a questionable business. They sell brand-name vitamins at a discount. That's fine. The problem is the NSI supplements. These are made for Vitacost in China by factories that are not held accountable to the FDA or GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). Then add a recurrent charge scam. When I found this out I dumped all my NSI vitamins in the trash. I didn't want to get a supplement that might not even contain the vitamin I was paying for or, worse, risk being poisoned by some contaminant due to a sloppy industrial process.
I e-mailed and called NSI several times, but they never responded to my questions about quality control. To me, this is cause for concern. Compare that to other companies with which I have dealt: I've called and talked to the people in charge of formulating the products at Pure Encapsulations, ProCaps, Innate Response, and others. You get what you pay for. Honestly, for any product that is sold at a deep discount, lacks quality control documentation, has no customer service of which to speak, with negative precedents set (e.g., Chinese food products contaminated with industrial toxins), would YOU put that in YOUR body? Seriously. |

My first and only experience with this store was horrible. It took them 4 days to ship out my order (it stated my product would ship within 24 hours on the site) and I still think that the only reason they even shipped my order out was because I emailed their customer service online and told them I was going to cancel my order if they didn't give me some sort of feedback about the status of my order. In response to that email, they sent a shipping notice that stayed on "billing info received" on the UPS tracking site for 2 days. I received my package today and it was battered all to heck. The product packaging looked like it had been thrown into the package, but the product itself was fine (thank goodness for safety seals). I will not order from this company again. Drugstore.com, here I come!

I had same experience , after placing order I clicked on the coupon, next think I know shopping essentials have my card number . I didn't even pay too much attention when ordering since I am NATURAL NEWS reader, web side I trust , where Mike Adams recommends vitacost . Be careful , don't do business with them , it cost me so much hassle , I had to get anew card , dispute the charges , it is not worth it .

Customer Service is horrible. I notified them to cancel my order due to a back-ordered item. Three days later, they sent it out anyway. Once I received it, I contacted Customer Service to request a return address label, and was told that I was responsible for the return cost. The rep didn't even pretend to be concerned that Vitacost has permanently lost me as a customer.

My first (any only experience) has been a nightmare. First it took 6 weeks to receive my order. Then when it did finally come, out of an order of $62.78, I was shorted $30.30 worth of merchandise! Tried resolving this with the online chat. Says that there is someone online with you. I waited for over 1 hour with no response. Finally ended up emailing after hearing the horrors of the phone reps. They say I received it. I am still currently fighting with them for a refund of the money I was charged. Never, ever will I order from them again! Cheap prices ends up with very poor service!

I statrted ordering from Vitacost in 2004 and they were fantastic. Overtime they have really become a sleazy company. Promotional come-ons, negligent customer service, poor shipping practises, out of stock items listed as in stock.
No more. As with much of Florida business....sleazy! And they don't care about their customers anymore. Caveat emptor. |

I've used Vitacost for 75% of my supplement purchases for about a year. I have never had a problem. They always deliver fresh products on time. They consistently have the best prices.
The issue that some people are calling a scam, works like this. Vitacost offers you free shipping if you sign up for a service that automatically reorders your vitamins for you. The terms are clearly explained. I don't want automatic orders - so I pay the 4.99 flat rate shipping. A person who calls something a scam because they failed to read what they were agreeing to is being unfair to the company. |

The first two orders I placed with VitaCost, I had no problems. Pretty slow shipment, but otherwise fine transactions. And, their shipping cost is only $4.95 per order, so I didn't expect fast arrival.
The third order was a different story... When my order got messed up (due to a site glitch), no one would help me straighten it out. (Vitacost charged my PayPal account twice and told me to "deal with PayPal".) Customer service is overseas - that should tell me something about this company. I tried to e-mail customer service multiple times - goes to a dead URL. (I would suggest making sure you can e-mail them, prior to ordering, if you choose to do so.) Customer service phone representatives don't answer or return a call during their "on/open" hours. Your only hope is apparently the chat, and the individual I had the great luck of dealing with was exceptionally incompetent and not helpful. I ignored the negative reviews I've seen around the net for this company, and now I regret it! Yes, the prices and selection are good, until you get given the shaft. |

Bottom line, Vitacost no longer cares about their customers. A few years ago I would have gladly given them a good rating. I told all my friends of their products and even would help in their ordering. That's all changed. Vitacost sucks and I will no longer do business with them. Those who have submitted positive reviews, I seriously doubt have placed very many orders or their orders were very small. From personal experience, I have encountered Vitacost getting worse and worse to the point that it's no longer worth the aggravation. Missing items, long delays in delivery, no email communication, and their cold & hard customer service has finally been enough! Vitacost advertises quick shipping and clearly states on their website the items are in stock. This is a total lie! They really hold up your order indefinitely, waiting until they can ship everything all at once. Sometimes you have to wait for weeks. No email or other communication is made asking the customer if that is acceptable. Their labeling is becoming more deceptive as well. Listing milligram quantities in large lettering on their NSI products, but in reality it takes multiple servings to reach that advertised amount. Be smart and buy elsewhere.

Never give them your credit card info. They sold my info to Shopping Essentials, who billed me 15 bucks a month for 3 months before I caught it. My card had to be canceled and reissued. Good thing is, my card company knew about this scam and immediately credited what I'd paid back to my account.
Of course Vitacost denied any wrong doing, saying I enrolled when I chose to fill out a survey for a coupon. I spoke directly with Shopping Essentials who offerred immediate cancelation. Both outfits are well aware of what they are up to. |

I placed an order for over $200 on October 25, 2008. Eventhough the web site adversites Same Day Shipping, as of today, November 9, 2008 no items have been shipped. Eight items were changed from available to backordered AFTER order was placed. Currently VitaCost is projecting a 50+ day wait. While I wait, more items get placed on backorder. I just spoke with Customer Service and they refused to cancel the order. They offered to ship in multiple shipments; but I will be charged $4.99 for EACH shipment. This could end up costing me over $40 in shipping charges.

I have used Vitacost as my prime vendor for vitamins and supplements for about 5 years. Until recently I was exceptionally happy with them in terms of selection, price, service and delivery.
But this year their service and delivery have gone totallt down the sewer. More and more they don't have the advertised products in stock, and demand that if you want them to ship the portion(s) of an order that they do miraculously have in stock you must agree to let them charge you a separate shipping charge for each item (or set of items) as they become available or the won't ship until every item is in stock (which may be 60 days or more depending on their estimated times of arrival). They rely on the fact that when you place an order you probably have a need and will let thewm get away with additional shipping charges - which in the case of my current order could cost me as much as 4 times their advertised shipping rate. It is unacceptable to have them make the customer pay for their inability to maintain their inventory. |

Delivery time was fast, prices are very low, but the customer support is horrible. I can see that I am not the only customer who has had no response to the "customer service" emails. I have sent at least six emails regarding questions or concerns about orders and have never received a response. I understand they probably handle alot of incoming emails, but at least don't put the BS slogan of "We pledge to respond to every email within 24 hours" on their website. Their prices are hard to beat, but I'm getting tired of being ignored, looking around for other discount stores.
