I've ordered twice from vitacost in the past year and never will again. Their variety of products is really great, and their prices are consistently lower than the competition, but their customer service is HORRID. Good prices or not, I simply refuse to keep giving my hard-earned money to companies that don't appreciate my business.
My first order was sent via their $4.99 USPS flat rate shipping which took almost two weeks to arrive, and then the package was so hot from being on the mail truck in July that some supplements melted, leaked and burst. There was no protective packaging at all, items rattled around loose in a cardboard box. Vitacost was unsympathetic and unhelpful, I never received a refund.
Drawn back by their low prices and hoping my first experience was a fluke, a year later I placed another order. This time I paid for 3-day UPS shipping and three days later the order hadn't even left the warehouse yet. Customer service could only offer to refund HALF my shipping cost, so I asked for a supervisor to call me back. Half an hour later, a "supervisor" who sounded like he was 15 years old called and offered no apology, no acceptance of responsibility, and absolutely no appreciation for my patronage at all, much less incentive for me to remain a customer. He claimed the half shipping fee refund was the only thing they could offer and if that's not enough I can just refuse the package when it arrives. And so I will.
