I've been buying supplements online for many years. During the past 3 years, I've purchased different brands of vitamins, minerals, herbs and teas from Vitacost and have never experienced some of the problems many reviewers mention. Perhaps I'm just lucky, but last month I ordered on a Sat or Sun and received my package by Tues or Wed. The description of each item is easy to understand and they often have reviews by customers. I know they publish both positive & negative opinions since I've written both, so whether I give a product 2 stars or 5, my review gets printed.

The ordering process is very simple and the buyer has a chance to adjust the order even after it's been placed. I've never had to wait for a back order, so I can't comment on that process. Many reviews say items aren't in stock as indicated, but all my orders have been complete. The shipping cost is one price which is $4.99 for 1 item or 20 items.

My only complaint would be a general one about online shopping if you are sensitive to various products. Vitacost has always offered to take back items I order within 30 days. However, they only allow 1 opened item per shipment. I understand this policy and it makes sense, since their prices & shipping costs are so reasonable, but occasionally I'll try some new products and discover I can't tolerate them. If a tablet is too large to swallow or a formula upsets my stomach then I'm stuck with one of the products I opened. Also, as with many online orders (no matter where you shop) the cost of the return can exceed the cost of the item if you are responsible for the return postage.

However, if you know exactly what you're looking for, I can't imagine finding better prices and quicker service anywhere. Some of their name brands (for ex: Rainbow Light) are more than 60% less than in local stores and their Yogi teas, which are delicious, are much less than on other sites like Drugstore.com, also a very reliable site.
