I have been ordering from Vitacost for over four years now, and over the last four months or so I have had increasing problems. Their prices are great, that's indisputable, but their shipping and customer service is lacking.
I have placed three orders in the past four months. All of the items ordered at the time indicated that they would "ship in 24 hours." However, it has taken up to four days for them to get the order out. Although they advertise "24 hour shipping" there is no recourse for the consumer if they do not meet this timeframe--it's just lip-service, and they have begun to consistently not meet this advertised commitment. Additionally, in one of my orders, one of the "in-stock" items was backordered, and I was never notified. After 1 1/2 weeks and no order received, I contacted them and was advised that my order was being held up because of the backordered item. Furthermore, it could take up to a month for them to be restocked (Twinlab Dualtabs vitamins--nothing exotic here). Meanwhile, the website was still listing these vitamins as "ships in 2-5 days." I emailed them in return to request that the order be cancelled so that I could reorder without the vitamins (and add additional items), but was told they couldn't cancel the order because it was in the "warehouse," although the other email indicated that it wouldn't ship out for about a month. I had to telephone customer service and was told that no, the order was actually not in the "warehouse" and that cancelling the order was not a problem.
So, yes, they are cheap, but it can take a long time to receive your order, and don't plan on competent/honest customer service either...I guess that's the trade-off-- they keep their prices low by skimping on service.
