The first time I came across UncommonGoods.com was on a recommendation of a friend. I told her that I wanted to buy a gift for a friend of mine that is different and unique. I told her that my friend is kind of a free spirit and she likes doing and buying interesting things.
I went over to UncommonGoods and knew right away that I was in the right place. They literally have hundreds of different kinds of things all hand made by people in underdeveloped countries. Almost every item is like a tiny piece of art.
I selected two items from my friend. I bought a bracelet that was made out of cedar wood and that was tucked in a woven black pouch with a drawstring top and embroidery on the front. I also selected a leather journal that had a design stamped on the front and home made paper inside.
The best thing about the site though is that the proceeds actually go back to the craftsmen and women. I was told that my particular purchase would allow for 65 cups of rice to be given to the villagers.
So not only can you buy great gifts on the site but you are also doing something good for people that really need it.
My order arrived in about a week and I was satisfied with the quality of the merchandise. I did not have to deal with customer service as I was satisfied with the overall transaction.
