When They Say Uncommon Goods, That's Exactly What They Mean!

Being a Halloween fanatic, I am always on the look out for new stores to shop at. I came across Uncommon Goods when I was doing a search for an iron on bat pattern for some old cotton sheets that I was going to dye and use as a couch cover. The first result on the list was this store and, needless to say, that was the end of my searching. Before you dismiss this as some type of seasonal shop, it has something for everyone. No matter how picky or spoiled the individual may be, I dare anyone to go to this site and not find at least five things that they'd love to order. From practical things like Time Tags [like a watch but can be clipped to clothing] to fun things like the "Benevolent Dictator" baby clothing set … if you are looking for unique gifts, then this is one of the places that you definitely have to check out. My sister didn't appreciate receiving the "Mmm Boobies" onesie outfit set but my brother in law loved it so when he takes my nephew to the park, he always sneaks this out of the house and changes him into it. Sure it might not be politically correct and some might be offended by it but hey, it's the one time in life that a male can wear a piece of clothing with that saying on it and actually be able to get away with it.

Uncommon Goods

The site is extremely clean, not meaning that it is void of naughty things [interpretation is left up to the individual] but there's nothing that I find objectionable or offensive at the site. Everything is listed with a color photograph and description so you will know exactly what you are getting. If you do have any questions, customer service is there to help when you need it and these people really know what they are talking about. Most of the time I hit the seasonal sections first and then the new product listings. You never know what they are going to get in or start carrying so you will want to check it about once a week to see if anything catches your eye. Some of the things that they sell are hand made so there is always a possibility that what you get isn't going to look exactly like what you see at the site but so far any of the hand made items that I've picked out, ordered and received have all been of high quality and look amazing.

Selection is plentiful with things for couples, babies, housewarming, seasonal items, teens and those people that are deemed "regifters". Those are the people that get something, turn their nose up at it and turf it off to someone else. I've picked up a few things for the kids at the site and have been very impressed with the quality of them, the prices might seem a bit high but the saying, "You get what you pay for" rings true here. So far the clothing that has been ordered, washed, worn and washed some more looks great. My sister really hates the 'boobies' onesie but no matter what she does when she is washing it, she can't ruin it and let me be blunt here, in the laundry room she is a complete moron. The educational toys were well received by the brood and while some of them cost over one hundred dollars, they are things that they use all the time. I didn't order those right away, I wanted to see how this company processed orders, packaged things and if billing was accurate before I started buying the higher priced items. So far I haven't been disappointed with anything that I have order or given as gifts; needless to say, this is a site that I visit often because you never know what little gems you are going to find there.

The Cow Jumped Over The Moon …
The Lamb Flew Over The Pool

One of the most comical purchases I made was for a friend that believes that the 'time out' method of discipline is the best for her child. I'll spare you the details but will sum it up with a short synopsis; the child has to have the mark of the devil somewhere on his body. There is no way a human being could possibly be this bad without some 'other worldly' type of influence. When I saw the "Time Out Lamby" I knew that it would be something that she would love and because it is so cute and plushie, it would make his skin crawl when she would take it down off the shelf. I was hoping that he would hate it so much that he'd start behaving so she wouldn't have to use it but the poor lamb didn't stand a chance against the spawn of Satan. When she was making him lunch he stacked some furniture, climbed up the book case, grabbed the lamb and made a mad dash with it. When she heard his demonic laugh outside she looked up to see a very cute, cuddly plushie lamb flying across the back lawn and landing in the pool. He hasn't mastered undoing the lock on the gate that surrounds the pool but has managed to build up the strength to launch pretty much anything he wants over the fence. To make a long story even longer, Lamby was pulled from the icy blue water, allowed to dry off and given a second chance at life. While it sounds a little muffled when the alarm goes off, it still works.

When you shop at Uncommon goods you receive a thirty day return period; you can follow the instructions at the site for making a return but it is always helpful if you keep your packing slip until you have had the chance to give everything the once over. The site accepts the usual payment method; MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. If these cards are not an option for you, contact the customer service team to make other arrangements. Customer service is excellent; any time I have had to contact them via email or on the phone, I've always received clear and correct answers about products they sell. I've never made a return but someone that I purchased a gift for has and she said that she had no problem doing so even though it was a gift. Shipping fees are minimal but some of the larger things require an extra fee. This is pretty much an industry standard for online stores so they aren't trying to make a quick buck by adding extra charges to shipping prices. Everything that I've received has been packaged perfectly, was as impressive as I thought it would be and lasted a lot longer than I expected [except Lamby].

The Bottom Line

If you are looking for a site that sells a wide variety of things, carries spectacular seasonal items and works with different types or artists and craftsmen to constantly increase what they sell, then Uncommon Goods is a site that you have to check out. The site itself is easy to navigate and there is no outside advertisements or pop ups to deal with. I'd say that this is an 'all ages' site but there are a few products that uptight people might say are a little on the naughty side but in my opinion, there's nothing there that I personally find offensive. So far I have had nothing but great experiences with this site and plan on using it a lot during the holidays. They ship fast, package things well and the quality of what they sell [including the hand made items] is some of the best I've seen.

As always, thanks for the visit…
