Ordered a Plasma set from US Appliance. Great prices. Reputable store: been in business for a long time, lots out outlets, and financially solid. These guys will be around for a long time. Web site is fine. Now the bad side:
Problem #1: US Appliance has a reputation of being VERY slow to confirm shipment dates. They promise TVs will be shipped in 7-10 business days after invoice is sent. But that is the trick. They never tell you when the invoice will be sent! They reply immediately with the order confirmation, but that is NOT the invoice. The invoice can take days or weeks or more. So ordering from US Appliance is a crap shoot in terms of when you will get your item. And if you try to cancel your order after the first 48 hours, you are slapped with a 15% fee!
Problem #2: customer service reps are just plain rude. I ordered a TV, and after getting an immediate confirmation, waited 2 days and not word in terms of the 'invoice' that start the clock for the 7-10 days shipping time. I called to ask, and the man of the phone was quite rude and short with me. He said "only 2 days? Call back in a week and we can talk".
Update: OK, I fell victim to the same issue many here have had. After waiting a week and no word of shipment, I called only to find out they never had any stock!! So I waited a week, they already charged by card, and they had nothing to ship me. Luckily, they were very nice and allowed me to cancel.
Bottom line: US Appliance has low prices, but their delivery is completely hit or miss. Too often, it appears, they will take an order without any stock in hand. They do not seem to be doing this maliciously, I think their systems are just very poor. This is a reputable company that as far as I have read has never taken anyone's money, but they do make it darn hard to rely on them to deliver in a timely fashion.
I am afraid I would hesitate to ever attempt to buy from them again.
