Tiger Direct won us over as a customer recently when they were having a sale on a number of products.  One of the products, and the one that we were looking to purchase from an online store, was the APC BB11 Replacement Battery Cartridge.  Now we have purchased these online before, but as the product is pretty heavy when it comes to shipping weight, it is often a process to figure out where we can purchase them at the best total cost.  With that in mind, deciding to purchase four of the replacement battery cartridges means that we also need to know how much the total cost after shipping these batteries is going to be.  If you have ever dealt with one of these large APC batteries, you already know that they weigh in at more than 50 pounds each, and that can cause shipping to go through the roof if you are not careful.

We came across Tiger Direct in this instance, because they were offering free shipping on this particular product.  They typically offer a number of products with free shipping, but its not always an easy case of figuring out which ones of them will come with the discount on shipping.  On the front page of the Tiger Direct web site, you will see that they showcase a number of items that they are either choosing to heavily discount or give free shipping to any of the people that order them.  This is neat, because if you can get a high end product and also get away without having to pay shipping, then you are going to be able to spend that money on something else.  The biggest thing about free shipping, is that then you can even pay slightly more for a product and come out ahead in the end.

Our purchase from Tiger Direct was putting the price up into four digits, and that was why we were looking for discounted shipping along the way.  The weight of our total purchase was over 200 pounds, and as I know in the past when ordering products likes these on the internet, it meant that shipping was going to be expensive.  Not the case with Tiger Direct on this order though, as we were able to get our shipping for free, and save a lot on the bottom line.  Their original product price was also cheaper than a number of options out there, including Amazon.com, which was selling for just under $400.00 on their main site for each battery.  I didn't know what to expect from Tiger Direct though, so the decision to go with them on this purchase didn't come without its early stress.

When we have finished placing the order (and paid with it using a credit card), we received an e-mail confirmation that the order had been placed.  We also received an e-mail when the order was sent so that we could track it, but we were pretty busy and I didn't really pay close attention to that aspect.  When the package did arrive, it felt like it was early, and everything was perfectly intact like we would have expected.  It was a good business decision to place the order with Tiger Direct, and I am glad that we went with them.  By using Tiger Direct on this purchase we were able to save close to $100.00 just on shipping alone we think, and that could bring us back to order from the again if we need the product once again.
