Full review
This is a complete rewrite of my previous updated reviews about this company and my experience with them.
I ordered the Pinnacle DVD Recorder (was supposed to be a Christmas present) through this company during the week before Christmas 2008. I paid extra to have it arrive on December 23, 2008 with UPS 2nd day shipping. I waited and waited. I checked the status of my order and UPS said they left my package on my front door on the 23rd when I was not home. When I came home on the 23rd, I saw no package and no notice of future attempts at delivery, so I thought my order had not arrived. And because I worried about not having a present to give and mad, I decided to go out and buy it at basically the same price ($51.00 on sale at Best Buy as opposed to $49.99 at TigerDirect) after Christmas.
I informed the company of this event and they insisted that my order was delivered. I complained and pointed out Tigerdirect's faults: They did not require a signature (different from a delivery) confirmation; even if I was not home at the time to receive the order, UPS should have left a notice that informs me of future attempts at delivery.. pointing out that it is not safe to leave something unattended because theft is a common occerence (like slippers and shoes left outside go missing every once in a while).
So Tigerdirect decided that they send me another shipment with a different order number and carry out an investigation with UPS. I received the second delivery on January 9, 2009. I must say that if I had not been home on January 9th, I would not have known that a package arrived. The door bell rang once and when I came to open the door, I saw the UPS delivery man cowardly, as if scared of being caught doing deceitful, ran to his truck.
The next day, I found a note on my front door from UPS asking for feeback on the December 23rd shipment. I found this note rather misleading, if not deceitful. I checked received (thinking it was asking for January shipment) and then when i read it more carefully, checked the not received and wrote in that I received a delivery on January 9, 2009 and NOT the one in December. I thought this the end of a rather frustrating exchange--but No!
On January 20, 2009, I received an email from Tigerdirect saying that if I do not return one of the shipment, they are charging me for both. I find this absolutely RIDICULOUS!!
Ridiculous because:
1. I never received my order on December 23rd (when it was supposed arrive). The fact that Tigerdirect has no documentation (my signature) indicating that I received anything on that day. I acknowledge that the UPS notice I received on January 10th, 2009is against me but this is after the fact. I did not receive my order on December 23rd, 2008. I received only one shipment on January 9, 2009!
2. Tigerdirect sent me a shipment of my original order on January 9, 2009 at their own free will. I did not ask for a second shipment as I was willing to take this as a stupid mistake in dealing with them.
If anything, I should be the one asking for my money back! For the UPS 2nd day shipping charge!!!
Just yesterday, I sent their unopened January 9, 2009 shipment back to them! I must say that I did not ask for any of the frustration that was the result of Tigerdirect's and its UPS carrier's broken promises and haft-minded operations! I paid for my order and did not what I paid for! Tigerdirect has to be the worst online store I shopped at. It is safe to say with 110% certainty that I will never ever buy anything from them again.
