My gripe is, I strongly suspect the ‘genuine OEM’ Motorola Razr cellhone batteries I purchased from TigerDirect are the same knock-offs many other deep-discount online vendors sell. Initially, due to TD’s reputation, the slick look of their website, and the genuine-looking ad for the batteries, I was confident I’d gotten genuine Motorola batteries. But now, with one battery going dead after just a few days use, and now the other one going dead after just a few months use, I’m just as confident I got the same fakes the rest of ‘em sell. A feeling reinforced by the fact that, when I click the link in my original order confirmation email, the item on TD’s website is no longer available. And in fact has not been available for months now. Odd that TigerDirect wouldn’t maintain a healthy stock of genuine OEM replacement batteries for one of the most popular cellphones of all time, probably millions of ‘em still in use.
Fortunately the first battery got sent back to TigerDirect for credit (after jumping the numerous hoops of their strict return policy). But the second battery held up just long enough that now I have to use to Motorola’s 12-month warranty. Great, I’m sure that’s an easy process. But I’m going to pursue it, so when I know the outcome I’ll update this review accordingly.
