I was registered at Target.com for my baby shower thinking it would be convenient for me and for those who shop for me. Boy was I wrong!
So my aunt bought me a dresser for the baby room for $130 which qualified for free shipping (or so we thought). She was later billed an additional $49 for shipping. She decided to get over that fact thinking she would have bought it anyway since I wanted it and it was not available in store. The item came 2 weeks after my baby shower although they ANTICIPATED (key word) the order to arrive prior to my baby shower. Anyway, we got the product, my husband and I spent about 2 hours to put it together only to find out it was a piece of crap. The drawers would constantly fall one on top of another when clothes were inside of the drawers. Naturally, we took the dresser to a target store to return it. My aunt lost the receipt but that should be NO PROBLEM! Because when I registerd the "team member" said I can ALWAYS return items I don't want by using the purchase log from my registry. I spent over 10 minutes with some "team member"trying to explain the situation and she did not want to return it because it was assembled! (NO DUH! LIKE I WAS GOING TO SPEND ANOTHER 2 HRS TO TAKE IT APART). So I got very fed up with the "team member" and had her call the manager (another very bright gal). Finally they returned it mostly because I was making quite a scene.
So, I come a second time to return another item purchased also from target.com and also a gift off my registry. When I tried to use the purchase log the "team member" said the item was not showing up in their database. It was clearly listed on the purchase log and it showed as purchased...but anyway she could not find it so she said she'll call Corporate Target. Corporate target looked into the issue and after they explained somthing to her for like 5 minutes she hangs up and tells me that I went over my $150 dollar return limit. So I asked what "limit" she was referring to and she said apparantly there's a 150 limit when using the purchase log. I asked where that rule/policy was listed and she said "it must be listed online, but I have no idea because I never heard of this rule myself". UNBELIEVABLE! I was supposed to know of some rule that their own people were not aware of. So I called Corporate myself thinking I could get something resolved. I called them twice. 1st time person on the phone was very rude, so I told myself he must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. I called again only to get the same rudness. When I asked where I can find the $150 return policy rule I was told that it was not posted anywhere! So I asked why and I was told because it is not a policy or a rule-it is Target's decision. Does that make any sense to anyone??
Overall: 1: Do not buy from Target.com
2: If you can buy from any other store (like walmart) DO IT.
3: DON'T REGISTER AT TARGET! I heard worse stories than mine from friends who registered for weddings.
