Ease of ordering
Theres a retail Staples near my home. Its so close, I often go there to browse. They always have employees that will assist you with any questions. If something is not available they will tell me to go online and check for the specific product since they cant have all the products at 1 store. You have a better selection when shopping online.
Since my husband had a home based business, it was much easier to purchase online and have it delivered. He would always order over $50 so shipping was free. The reason for purchasing online was that most of the items were replacement supplies for all the office equipment like toner, cartridges, copy paper, adding machine tape post-its, etc. All these items were heavy at times and did not fit well in a car.
Ordering online when you need quantity is much simpler since it saves you time from going to the store. Its easier to choose exactly what you need right from home and you dont need a truck to bring home with. One item which is really nice to get delivered is the under the chair/desk clear mat with those spikes to keep the mat from shifting around. I believe we only purchased the first one at the retail store and from then on had this delivered. No hassle rolling it and trying to fit it in our sedan cars.
Avoids returns
At times you have to shop at both the retail and online. An example for this is last year I needed a shredder and could not decide which one to purchase. I went to look at several stores and then visited the Staples.com. Online it stated I could print out a coupon to get $10 off the
Executive Machines shredder. I went to the store and picked the shredder up. They were not aware of the $10 coupon but they honored it. Shredders come in many styles and types. This to me is a difficult item to purchase online without having seen it.
Satisfied with Staples.com
I have returned many items purchased online at the retail store. This makes it less complicated with returns or exchanges.
Shopping on Staples.com has been a good experience with no problems with delivery and customer service. The website is easy to navigate and most times products have been available. They also send you insentives at home from time to time.
The price was right
The reason why I wrote this review today is I went to the Staples by me and at the entrance they had desk chairs with a large sign $39.99 http://www.staples.com/sbd/img/cat/std/438030_01_std.jpg. When I checked on this chair in the categories it came up under Staples.com. So since Ive had many experiences with Staples.com, I thought I would tell about my overall opinion on this online store since weve used it for several years.
I did need a new chair since the one I had the fabric was beginning to come apart. I know my chair cost more than $40 so I thought hey this is a nice chair for the price. It came in leather and cloth. I would have purchased the cloth if I had ordered it online, but when the employee took the chair parts out of the box to assemble it for me, I noticed poor workmanship on the bottom of the seat, therefore, I told him I changed my mind and went with the leather. Again I examined it before he assembled it. This one seemed a bit better all around. I had it assembled to make it easier to fit in my car rather than cart a huge box. The cost for assembly was $5 and the employee was very nice to bring it to my car. I later went online to check the Staples.com site for the price and it did match what I paid.
In this case, Im glad I visually saw the product before purchasing it. I was able to inspect it and check out the comfort before buying it.
Final thoughts.
I feel if you know what you need, yes shopping at Staples.com is time saving, cost effective and most times easier. I did notice a drop in customers inside the store which is proof that more people are shopping online.
