Sierra Trading Post

The ordered some slippers, and then had to re-order and they still weren't right so they have been returned. This is not the usual, I almost keep everything as the product has been exceptional. I have many Christmas presents from Sierra Trading Post and am anxious for the recipent to get them.

Warning!  Call Sierra trading post before purchasing anything and ask if the item will require a  "Return authorization number" if you want to return the item.  If it does - DO NOT order the item.

Certain items require that you call Sierra Trading Post to get a number from the merchant prior to sending it back.  Don't ask me why - seems it is a scam so a company can keep your money and get interest on it a few extra days. 

I tried to return a quilt and it took over 3 MONTHS to finally get my money credited back to my account. It required over a 8 calls to Sierra Trading Post to get this number.  They said they were still waiting to get the number from the manufacturer.

3 Months later, the Corporate Escalation Manager at Sierra Trading Post finally sent me a letter with the number and a free return shipping label and their apologies.

I have ordered many items over the years from them and have been very pleased but I will ALWAYS ASK NOW about the potential for the required "return authorization" and NEVER order a item that requires it again.

The whole experience of buying from Sierra Trading was positive, other than paying another $25.12 at the door upon delivery. I had paid $37 shipping and handling, on top of the price of my jacket so was surprisede to pay this additional amount. Perhaps, international customers could be warned about this surcharge?

horrible customer service.  Sierra Club has good prices but beware of their customer service.  You may not get the discount you were offered.  You may then spend 30 minutes intermittently on hold trying to resolve the issue,  become angry and fatigued, and finally hang up in frustration.  All I can say is buyer beware.  Go ahead and order, but just hope you never have a problem because it may never be resolved.  My experience was so bad and frustrating that I will NEVER  order from them again, in spite of their  prices and endless  discounts for 20%.  The fact is, you may never get the price you were offered!

Prices are good but fulfillment stinks. Not like you get a good deal on shipping either $13 for a pair shoes and some socks.  I have placed an order 10 days ago and still have not recieved it.  This is not the first time this has happened.  I got a message it shipped but UPS did not get the package until 4 days latter.  Total lie.  If you have a lot a patience with shipping then you be fine.  I have no patience for businessses that decieve me.

Sierra Trading Post has always been a positive shopping experience for me. It starts with the web browsing & purchase and ends with the on-time delivery. This is one of my favorite web shopping sites. They rate at the top with Amazon and Zappos. One improvement they can make...help the American buyer with the European products they sell. European clothing and shoes tend to run small or narrow. Let the buyer know this on the web site so that they can make an informed decision.

The good: prices are good. I bought a Columbia brand girl's jacket for about 1/2 off.  Item was new, exactly as described, well packaged. Item was shipped 3 days after I purchased it (the delay could have been b/c I purchased on a Saturday), and item was delivered to my door via UPS 3 days after that.  Return policy is quite good.  Someone actually answers their 1-800 number.
The bad: STP automatically adds your mailing address to their catalogs list, which gets shared with a number of other companies. Within weeks, I started getting catalogs from a number of moderate to high end outdoors and survivalist companies, which I did not want. This is the default! To opt out, you actually have to create an account on their website and change your preferences; or you can call their 1-800 number.

My husband and I love shopping at your web site, we probably buy more items from you than anywhere else. You have the best prices and now that I have a Sierra Trading Post Credit card and the shipping is free we shop even more than before. I have recomended many people to shop at your store, and they have been happy also. The only thing that could make buying from you would be free return shipping. Keep up the good work.
