STP has becomed too expensive. It has spent tons of money in advertisement. Using so much paper, so many tress to print the catlogs. The price reflects those advertisement money STP spent. 14 or 15 years ago, STP had decent price. STP usually offers 30% discount. To me it's a joke, they are closeout, irregular or overstocked items. STP will offer deeper discount only when popular sizes or better colors have become unavailable.

One example, Pearl Izumi Fly Evo Pullover Shirt is now "on sale" on STP site for about $110. Last week (08/28/09) when REI had its Super Clearance Sale, this pullover is on sale for $57.83 with all the sizes available. Before the Super Clearance sale, REI had it for $114.83 which is lower than STP's earlier asking for $120.
- Free shipping
These days I shop at REI, BackCountry or Altrec and stay away from STP. All these sites provide either free shipping or free store pick up and great return policy and service. They all carry huge selections of products. I really don't see any reason or justification to shop or buy from STP unless STP gets lucky to hold on some items no one else carries.
STP does provide free shipping but you need to search the internet for the riddle and its answer - why bother.
The bottom line - I shop REI, BackCountry and other places before STP.
